8D8 (Atedeate) was a thin, skull-faced droid who worked in the Cyborg Operations division of Jabba the Hutt 's court. The piston-legged automaton was employed to torture both droids and organics. He answered to the sadistic taskmaster, EV-9D9 .

Expanded Universe
Once in Jabba 's employ, Atedeate was lobotomized and reprogrammed. This is not the first retrofit that the droid had undergone, since he was modified to function as a starship maintenance droid previous to his service under EV-9D9 .
