I'd be very interested to know what everyone thought of the New "Clone Wars" movie. I for one was highly disappointed, I'm not sure if it deserves to truly be called "Star Wars." I went to see it with a rather large group of die-hard Star Wars and not a single one of us liked it.
But enough from me, what did everyone else think?
I also bought the new Karen Traviss "Clone Wars" novel before I saw the movie, so I'm hoping the book is WAY better.

Forgive me, I suppose you were right given your remark; but what exactly was your comment to begin with?

As a huge fan of the movies, eu, etc. (as no doubt most people here are), this movie was a complete insult to all fans. I was so excited to see this today (took the day off...as did my buddies). Instead, I had to suffer through an interminable hour and a half of dreck. The dialogue was ridiculous. The storyline could not have been worse. Calling your master "Sky Guy" is an assault on a the very meaning of padawan-master relationships. Enough with the Jar-Jar style of cutesy nicknames and general gibberish. I'm sick of the bumbling and stumbling droid army (it's not funny....isn't this supposed to be a force that will destroy the Republic and the Jedi?). Crawling around in a box as some sort of stealth maneuver is ridiculous. The increasing move towards super heroism versus beings who can do extraordinary but reasonable things is pissing me off. Lucas is officially a cash pig who seems to care little about the fan base that he has built.

Survey says.........Right answer. It's all about the money! How many other movies have been released and alot of people asked why? Money. It's all about the money. I personlly enjoyed the movie, I'm in a select few, but why is Lucas having this series come out on T.V., money plain and simple, money. He has a cash cow and he's going to milk it till it's dry. He's not the first and he won't be the last.

I must admit my faith in Lucasfilm has been shaken....
LOL
No,seriously the Sky-Guy thing was off,if Ashoka was truly wanting to be taken seriously as a padawan (and being accepted by Anakin as her padawan) then calling Anakin Sky Guy was wrong and also out of context of the GFFA as I have seen it thus far.
The droid amries were portrayed in my view pretty much the same as we saw them in the PT.
Anakin is a little different but then bear in mind that this is a bridging 'movie' or storyline between AOTC and ROTS.
Can't disagree that it's a cash-grab but then what else is out there in the entertainment world that isn't?
James Bond movies are still being made and now they are not Ian Fleming's original writings being adapted to screenplay but rather other writers creating "new" material for bond fans *cough* *cough* sorry meant as a cash grab.
All around there's the same consumeristic cash grabbing world out there, all the big brands want us to buy their latest product and movies/entertainment is no different.
I realise that just cause others are doing it that it does not make it "ok" however given the suggestion of cash-grab bas been raised from a cynical POV then I feel I'm carrying it through to a logical conclusion.
Overall, anything new that generates interest in Star Wars and introduces it to a new generation is a good thing IMO.
I liked the movie and took it for what it is: light entertainment.

Very disappointed. I love Star Wars (else I wouldn't be on this site ;) ), but really, this is not the best Lucasfilm has ever produced. I loved the battles (the one with Obi-Wan and Anakin and the clones was awesome--I remembered why I love clone troopers so much!), but the Anakin/Ashoka relationship was off-the-wall and embarrassing. What Padawan behaves this way? Obi-Wan never did; heck, even Anakin didn't and he was an arrogant brat most of the time! If you want respect, you have to give it first. Plus, the plot was lame. Overall, I consider this movie to be one thing: "Eye Candy".
I guess the best thing is that movies like this increase toys, and I love collecting toys. Too bad George and co couldn't have put more time and effort to make this installment more enjoyable. It almost makes the prequels look like Academy-award quality.

Crystal.. I agree with you whole-heartedly. The Anakin/Ashoka thing is COMPLETELY and utterly ridiculous. And the movie did very much remind me of just why the Clone Army is so cool. Besides I like collecting the action figures, but other than a few fight scenes the NEW Star Wars movie, should not even be allowed to bare the name STAR WARS.

Saw it Friday three times and I loved it! I don't get why you all hate the Ahsoka/Anakin relationship. Not every padawan is gonna be the same and listen. The story was awesome! The action was great (Ahsoka fighting the magnaguards was sick).
And Lucas didn't put this in theaters to make money. He said that he liked the final result and what it looked like on the big screen and decided to give fans a treat and put it in theaters. Well, Lucas has satisfied me.
Good job Lucas!

Well, I guess I'm in the minority because I really liked it. I agree with The_Jedi. I actually feel bad for all of you "fans" for some of the horrible things you've just said about Lucas. Why does everyone expect anything new to the Star Wars universe to be the OT over again?

Aug 17, 2008 9:06 AM | Report Abuse reply
i dont think that we do want it be OT all over again, it doesnt have to be. it just needs not to suck. i wanted to like the clone wars and i was hoping it would be awesome, but it just fell way flat for me. i mean there were parts of it that i liked, like the battles, but most everything else, the story, the new character, and the humor were all geared towards really young kids. which is fine and all, but if you want adults to stay tuned in, there needs to be a lil more substance, IMO.

Well, then I'm proud to say that the kid in me that fell in love with Star Wars all those years ago hasn't died yet like it obviously has with you adults.

I think Star Wars has been on a decline since the prequels. In AotC, I don't understand why they had to make Anakin sound like such a wimpy whiner. In RotS, the abbreviation says it all about the script. It rots. I don't think Clone Wars could be much worse than the previews, but I think the initial excitement will get me through the movie.

Well, I have to disagree with most of you...
The Clone Wars was exactly what I expected... It was a setup for the upcoming Clone Wars show. They introduced new characters, and established the look and feel... (I'm remembering the 1980's Transformers movie)
I have become very jaded against most cartoons over the last years, because too many companies can now pump out garbage at a low budget... I think that the graphics, humor and excitement of this Star Wars was taken perfectly.
Yeah, the Valley Girl attitude of the Padawan was taken too far, but she was more palitable than Jar Jar Binks in Episode 1.
This may end up being a very good cartoon series. I just hope that Mister Lucas keeps an eye on things, so it keeps to his vision.
(I'm remembering Animaniacs was supervised by Steven Spielberg, and they kept a good quality.)
Anyhow, my initial reaction on Clone Wars is a thumbs up.

haa, nothing has died in me, Maker. i love cartoons n such. i think the clone wars micro-series was awesome! i wished they woulda continued it! especially now. but kids movie or not, it just needs to be good is all im saying. i like comedy movies, but is every comedy flick that comes out funny? no. is every horror flick scarry? no. etc., etc., etc. and star wars is not immune from commin out with some clunkers either.

I loved the previous cartoon series, so I was really excited to see this movie. Been waiting ALL summer.
I didn't hate it, but I don't know if I can say I liked it.
I thought it kind of boring actually.
The previews made it look so cool too.
Still trying to puzzle out exactly what it was that made it, for me, so lackluster.

The child in me hasn't died, or I wouldn't still be buying action figures or watching movies like "Wall-E" and "Clone Wars" (my showing had almost 90% kids and families). That said, while there were aspects I didn't like in Clone Wars, I didn't hate it. I just wish it would have been better. I knew it could have been better. I didn't have any preconceived notions that Clone Wars was to be OT; I enjoy the prequels for being what they are, even when most people call them crap (okay, so AOTC was my least favorite for the romance, but still, it was a great movie). I just know that GL and co have produced some great stuff; this just isn't one of it.

the story was pretty good but it could have ended more treagedy...all the talking between anakin and ahsoka was pointless...all the droids talking to each other sucks and makes them look stupid humans, there droids...why dose anakin have trouble starting the ship if the droids were about to us it...why is jabbas uncle gay...why is c3po leading clone troops...why is anakin not droped into the rancor pit after pointing his saber at jabba

Tuskers. You mentioned that the "Clone Wars" movie reminded you of the 1980 "Transformers" movie; are you saying that like its suppose to be a good thing?? Have you ever seen the "Transformers" movie? It was horrid, it basically destroyed the "Transformers" TV program. They killed Optimus Prime. So my point being, the "Clone Wars" movie has not only just as horrid, but has the potential to destroy "Star Wars" well at least "Star Wars IV-VI."
