Re:Thoughts from those who have seen the New Clone Wars Movie

I liked it taking in consideration the fact that this was designed for a specific meduim and demopgraphic. The kids went nuts during the whole movie. I have seen it twice. I wore my clone helemt with my board shorts and flips flops, and my best friend Chris wore my Fett helmet. We took tons of pics in the lobby after the film LOL!! The showings have been half full here in my town, and the local theatre management elected to screen this film in the worst of their theatres (this film will be gone by next weekend, here in Santa Barbara...) Fly Me to the Moon got the big grand Digital Theatre this weekend, because of the 3-D format.

What I liked was the spunky relationship between Asohka and Sky Guy. The prequels lacked that OT "rogue spunk from the heart" edge, and I have missed that. I felt the animation could have been more detailed, and I didn't care for the angular faces and such. Of course, this will translate into the video game quite effectivley.

I thought Jabba's uncLe was a little to kinky for the kiddos, but I was laughing. I wonder what Xero was smoking LOL. The whole Jabba's baby thing was a tad ridculous, but again, taking in consideration the intended demographic. The politcal issues surrounding the trade routes was a great focal premise to the story.

Of course, I totally dug the clones and all the action sequences. These guys aren't short stormtroopers that cant hot there targets, they are kick@#$%tacticians which makes the Order 66 concept that much more possible. It was cool to spend time in the Star Destoryers and such, which I also missed with regard to the prequels. Visually, it was the most Star Warsy to me than the prequels combined. Hell, they even did the jump to hyperspace with the stretching stars, which I was bummed that they totally dismissed that siganture effect during the entire prequel arc.

I totally forgot about Padme, until she appeared. And I was stoked that they didn't get all mushy with her and Sky Guy. I have not watched AOTC in it's entirety since 2005, since I always fast forward past all that slow and bland mushy love stuff, ewww. Considereing the demopgraphic, I hope they keep the series benign from icky Ani-Padme stuff.

On thing my best friend Chris did say to to me after (he is not into this nearly as much as I am, but he has been there with me since 77', so we always see these movies together) that he felt that SW has gotten severly diluted with the, for the "children" angle. When we were kids growing up on this stuff, it was the rogue, adult edge that made it seem real, that gave the series weight. Our hope is that the live action series will bring that back, to shift back towards what the OT was, in the hopes of restoring continuity to the shabang
