As you all know, our current PooBah Knights are Lady Mookiee, Cade Skywalker, Sekhmet, and Stymie.
1st order of business is to spread the word that the book club has finally started.
To do this, I will break down the book club roster and assign each PooBah several members to contact in order to get the word out (this must be done asap). If you are unable to do so asap (by the 1st), let me know asap.
I still have some other PooBah business to attend to, so I will be delegating this task to the rest of the PooBah's (this means each PooBah will have to contact about 13 members).
I will all provide a specific script that you can just paste into each members guest book (this will make it easier for you and keep our message consistent)

PooBah outreach update:
PooBah Knights Mookiee and Sekhmet have each completed their missions most expeditiously.
No word from PooBah Knight Skywalker...although not his fault due to last minute nature of the mission.
PooBah Mookiee has agreed to notify the members assigned to Cade (in fact she has already done so).

I really liked how VDK was specific in pointing out what he could offer as a PooBah and when:
"part-time - tuesdays, wednesdays, saturday nights, and anyother time i'm feel (if i am), and jobs well what do you need; designer, advertiser, voting thread organiser, tractor, police guy (lol), etc goes on and on...what do you need???"
I encourage others to do the same (because I don't know what each of your unique skills and capabilities are).

Important PooBah business update: Moderation.
VDK brought up the notion of policing. While i don't think we need to be that militant, I do want us to have some kind of moderating presence.
Of course we can't be here all the time, and even when we are, I'm sure we aren't just going to watch the discussion thread the whole time.
However, when you are doing whatever it is you do in the WOSW site, I ask that you make your presence known on the discussion board web site (again, that does mean you have to just sit in the discussion thread the whoie time, just poke in on occasion and see what's going on). When around, post something like *PooBah Knight Mookiee on duty* and when you leave, say something similar like *PooBah Knight Mookiee on duty*
if you have question about that, let me know.
as for actually moderating, we can't really force anyone to do anything. Above all try to be courteous and respectful when a situation arises. And it does not always have to be a case of someone being rude to others. A good example is a recent post where a member didn't constructively contribute. It was almost a spam post, and we don't want to see the discussion turn into a bunch of, "Good book" posts. I didn't take any punitive actions this time, but I did strongly discourage those kind of posts.
Feel free to post your feedback here on how we should go about moderating and enforcing rules while at the same time promoting a free, open, and fun environment.

Heads up for future mission (well in advance):
The last PooBah "mission" was very last minute..but we got it done! (Good job team PooBah!)
So I want to make sure I give more time and more advanced notice for our next mission.
Sometime later this week, we will do something similar and contact all the members again. This time, however, it will be to notify them of the voting thread (it will be something along the lines of "one week to go to vote for the current proposed rules").
I should have official instructions and a due date for this mission by mid-week.
It is important to let us know asap when a mission is posted if you are unable to carry it out for whatever reason, so we can make adjustments.

*Posing alternative, that way Poobahs don't interlap on the discussion thread, anytime, but during the day on the weekends PST, is good for me, will take up slack if PBK can't officiate thread, but maybe PBK's should vote on what days and times are best for them? *

I don't think it particularly matters if two PooBahs are on at the same time (although that's something we can vote one...we also might want to vote on the whole "on duty" concept altogether).
As for making a schedule, I am against that. I think it's easier if your around (again, u don't have to continually watch the thread...just poke in every now and then when you are on the WOSW site anyways), you make note you are "on duty" and before you leave the WOSW site, post you are "off duty."
Shifts not necessary...we will never cover it all (why it's an asset that we have people from different time zones)...and I'm really not going to make plans around an online book club.
So votes?
1st PooBah vote: should we do the whole "on duty/off duty" thing?
I'm vote we should....but I'll go with what the group thinks.

The only problem is the thread will only start to have post when the book gets read. I'm reading another one I must finish first and then I will start RC.I know you have forseen this and have just been stuck in the momment. I will need two or three week to get started and be ready to start chating (posting) about RC Oh PooBah. Failure is not an option!!!!! :}SLK

Greetings PooBahs! I'm not sure how long my connection will last, but I wanted to post this "mission" update:
It will be similar to the last mission in terms of contacting members, only this time it will be to let them know that voting for the current proposed rules will close in a week (it will be a week by the time we get the word out).
I wanted to give much more prior notice of this "mission" than last time. I will have it up shortly, and it will be die by the 8th or 9th.
If I can't access WOSW, I will have someone post the mission for me.

I'd like to make a motion to do away with the on duty/off duty thing. IMO, it's just cluttering up the discussion board...thus making it hard to follow any type of discussion.
Plus, when people go to the Books and comics thread, they can see the last person who posted, and if it always says Stymie or another PooBah, they may be thinking "boring...move along....move along."
The whole 2nd page is PooBahs reporting in and out for duty and only two post that actually discuss the book.
Ban on all on/off duty posts until we decide collectively if this is what we want to do

I think it is a good idea to stop, most everybody already knows who to contact! And with splitting up of the group those members also know who to contact with a question, but I think most already contact PBK Stymie for info anyway!!
