SW Book Club July/Aug '09: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight

Let the voting begin for the book you would like to see the SW Book Club cover in September.

Only vote per person.

Potential books must be out in paperback format by the time you vote. Graphic novels are also fair game. Some Essential guides may qualify. (Vote for what you want, and we'll let you know if it doesn't qualify and why.)

Also use this thread to post comments, suggestion, questions, and/or gripes about the book club. As always, we are continually working out kinks and making it better, more fun (or so I hope).

The book we will be covering for the next two months is Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight by Michael Reaves.

Like last time, the only thing we ask is that you be courteous to others' opinions. Disagree in a respectful manner. But do feel free to disagree.

Tangents are fine. But if they get too far off topic, we will ask you to start a new thread to continue discussing the tangent. But error on the side of saying what you have to say. It could lead to an interesting discussion.

If you are not a member and would like to be, go ahead and jump in on the discussion and consider yourself a member (no obligations: participate as much or as little as you like).

Always feel free to let me, or any of the PooBahs (i.e., book club facilitators), know if you have any questions, comments, grips, and/or concerns.

And be sure to cast you vote for the next book you'd like to see covered at the following link: http://tinyurl.com/SWBK-vote-July-Aug

Everyone calm yourself with all the discussion going on in this thread!

One thing I will warn--there are some pretty blatant timelime discrepencies in this book.

The author has admitted to them. He chalked them up to a very serious illness he was dealing with while writing the book, which led to editing errors.

But don't let petty continuity issues ruin a good story, which has alwasy been more important to me anyway.

I need to find where I put this book. I moved a while ago and I'm still unpacking! I think it's on my shelf, but the paperbacks are three rows thick!

Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight ? Is that with that guy, Jax Paven?

I read it, but can't remember it all that well. Damn, I guess I should re-read it, huh?

Be back later then !

I haven't read the book. My friends all groaned when I said I haven't had that book. They were all go, "surely you have more than 100 books, right?"

actually, it was 181 novels, mind you

although if I have to buy another one my father would KILL me.. I've been spending too much money on STAR WARS investment (that's what I assured my father, though I will NEVER sell them)

I gotta sit this out until I have money to get the book, seems they don't have this book on Wattapad!

Jul 3, 2009 9:55 AM | Report Abuse reply

I'm sitting out too, Boobius, at least until I can get my copy through Interlibrary Loan.

And your avatar, boobius, looks like something out of the Disney movie TRON rather than STAR WARS, IMO.

So where are all the people who voted for the book? I'm going to start having a discussion with myself about the book, I guess.

Hurry up and get your copies of the book! Try used books stores too. Might be able to get it really cheap there.

Anyone know of any other internet sites that would have the full text for free, like Wattapad?

Jul 6, 2009 9:25 AM | Report Abuse reply

Boobius already said Wattapad doesn't have it, Stymie.

Jul 6, 2009 10:37 AM | Report Abuse reply

I know. I had also checked myself before I read Boobius's post, or esle I would have included a link a while back.

My point/question was that since Wattpad does not have a full text version, does anyone know of any other similar websites that might?

Jul 6, 2009 11:04 AM | Report Abuse reply

His avatar does look like from TRON.

I'll take a look tonite about an online full text version of the book. I'm about to go to the pool.

Jul 6, 2009 5:13 PM | Report Abuse reply

Well, you can download the torrent version (which going to include every book, I think)

now why didn't I think of this?

Jul 6, 2009 7:37 PM | Report Abuse reply

For my 2 cents I would have to say that this was overall a good start to the series that takes place 3 months after Revenge of the Sith. I personally would recommend reading Darth Maul:Shadow Hunter, the Medstar Dueology & Sh@erpoint(you get the hint on this title) for additional info on a few of the main characters like I-Five & Den Dhur & Nick Rostu. Lizzy would like this cause it is basically an introduction of the Black Sun gang with Prince Xizor prior to the events in Shadows of the Empire.

There are alot of reference to other characters such as Yoda, Mace Windu, Obi Wan, Anikin & others from the Clone Wars saga.
