ok, someone help me here!
I see new action figures coming...female clone troops.
Why, how, what books did they come from! And if so , doesnt that make the movies wrong now? Also Im guessing the clones didnt know they were going to turn on the jedi right? Till the sith told them to act on code 66? Like in epsd. 3? Love to talk about the clone! hit me up...anyone!
thanks
a star wars lover!
(trying to become a geek on the SW universe)

Who knows. Maybe it is a random attempt to be more inclusive.
It isn't impossible to get a female clone trooper from male DNA, the problem is that it would have a lot more duplicate genetic code than it should and biological abnormalities are far more likely to occur.
Also, how exactly would having a small percentage of accidentally female clone troopers make it LESS likely that they were aware they were going to betray the Jedi? Your line of thinking doesn't make any sense.
But, to ignore the potentially sexist statement, I would point out that IF the clone troopers had it in their mind to exterminate the Jedi from day 1, wouldn't the Jedi have known something was coming? Wouldn't they have sensed the direct hostile intentions after being around the troopers for days and days on end?

It is impossible to create female clone troopers from male DNA as Hobgoblyn pointed out, but then again this IS Star Wars, and they have done the scientifically impossible before, (lightsabre's anyone?)
But failing that line of thought, the guys at LFL could be going for a new story arc where a woman supplies the cloners with her DNA and thus...female clone troopers.
All that aside it could be just to make a quick buck on variation :p They have made figures out of the concepts for certain characters this year after all.
Also, in the case of the clones not knowing about order 66, I imagine it would have been a case of keeping the knowledge of that task in their subconscious, with Palpatine being the only one knowing the trigger words (execute order 66) - possibly the cloners as well, depending on how the memory was planted in the first place. That's my theory anyway ;)

I said it WAS possible to make a female.
The only difference between male and female is XX vs. XY chromosones. Males have XY so a batch of material could get screwed up so that the X duplicates twice and the Y gets lost or becomes dormant.
Or, secondly, they could keep the XY but for some reason the tetsterone doesn't kick in. Then the body goes to the default biological format which is female.
The second would actually be preferable, because someone with two identical chromosones is likely to be very unhealthy. The second would be biologically fine, however she would probably be 25% sterile (YY a human does not make). However, it would be difficult to explain how either happened under carefully monitored lab conditions (unless it was intentional).

That's more what I was getting at. The problems seem to outweigh the opportunities really, i'd stick with a different donor - you never know though.

Female clone troopers....well that would be great if I couldn't get along with her I'd could date her sister all 1.5 million of them if they cloned a descent amount of females. I'm not sure what the point of having female clones would be. You can create all the clones you want so the reproductive quality is out. You can't make them spies because well you uncover one of them and the secrets out.
Now about the Order 66 comment. The Republic Commando book series (I highly recommend) does a great job of setting the stage for it. The commandos are doing there mission, there's no ill-will in it. They are people, but ultimately they've been created to serve only a singular purpose and to do that purpose (for the most part) doesn't create ill-will. Order 66 was only one of a long list of standing orders. Republic Commando: True Colors does a good foreshadowing of Order 66.

I hate to get all feminist on you here, but what makes women less adept in the field than men? Female clone troopers would probably do all the same things that male clone troopers did.....except peeing standing up :p

It's not the age old question of man versus women in infantry operations. My point on this subject of female clone troopers is, why add females to an already existing group of millions of other clones. What benefit would it be? I would hold the same question if they used another person's DNA instead of Jango's. What's the point, you've already got what you need, essentially.
Being in the military I stay far away from the woman in the infantry debate. I've seen the argument from both sides and I personnally think it's the individual not the plumbing that makes a good soldier.

LOL,Indeed it is, that's exactly what I was getting at. Perhaps I misread it, but the first part of your comment was saying to me that the female clone troopers would be pointless because they were female. Having read your next comment I see you have put a slant on this saying that no matter the gender your still asking what the point would be.
It's a good question - I mean the only thing I could think of right now is that adding another set of genes to create clones from would form some kind of diversity in thinking, yet the clones don't always think along the same lines. They don't become predictable in their strategies or ways about doing different tasks, plus they have been shown to develop personalities all of their own. They could be hoping that different sides of a female persona would come out in female clones in the same ways it happened with the male ones.

Female clone troopers? I have two words for you:
"Yes, please."
:P

There are 3 things i can think of right now:
1: There could never be a female Clone Trooper, since all of them were made from the DNA of Jango Fett.
2: It could be a female Jedi in a Clone Trooper uniform (like Obi-Wan wore. I remember seeing a female Jedi in Clone armor somewhere)
3: Since the Imperial Navy never allowed women to join their ranks (except for the select few), i dont see it being a Storm Trooper. However, the New Galactic Empire (Legacy) did allow females (and there are many female Storm Troopers)

In his infinite wisdom, Darth Sidious realized the enormous logistic as well as recreational requirements of the clone army and created a division responsible for underway replenishment, as it were. This is, of course, a joke as I highly respect fe-males of all species.

In EU books and comics-there is mention of Conscription and Cloning programs in progress to meet the vast need for troopers for the expanding Empire. In Legacy comic series-Imperial Troopers are just like soldiers of world's military in real life-they are all sexes (and species in the Star Wars world) and it mentions the troopers modify their armor to fit their sex/species. As We Sith ( and Israelis,Americans, etc.) have always known-the ladies are just as tough and can bring the pain on just as well as the males. Cloning- It's not just for Kaminoans or Sith Lords anymore.
