ACTION FIGURE HUNTING.

I don't know how other collectors are, but I enjoy the thrill of finding unique or hard to get action figures. Just curious if anyone else goes to Flea Markets, Yard/Garage Sales and plunders through the goods in hopes of finding another Star Wars action figure/vehicle/item to add to his or her collection?? I know I do, and I love when I am tracking down a few figures. It reminds me of the old days when I use to track down Jedi.

thats my fav. pass time. the flea markets around here are full of scalpers so i usually hunt down the new waves before they are supposed to be released, and ive found that vintage books and any star wars on vinyl are pretty hard to find and resonable when you do. i try to go on sat. and sun. i head west on sat and east on sun and just about meet in the middle. hunting jedi is much more fulfilling though!

I have to agree Jedi are becoming much more rare to find, haha.

So does anyone else enjoy the thrill of the hunt? Where do you go to find your action figures (besides stores)???

Well, you don't realy find any Star wars action figures where I live. But I do enjoy the thrill of hunting around garage sales and flee markets for other Star wars stuff like books. Just the other day I picked a realy cheap book at a big public market for like 30 bucks!(not dollars btw)

Always look in garage sales or collectors sales for vintage figures just in case there is a gem in there.

Other than stores there's ebay... not sure if that is classified as another source but it has been a good one for me.

However I did pick up a Qui-Gon-Jinn figure for $2.00 at a local markets recently and it was in good condition.

Overall I stick to the stores cause I have the unique situation of being able to got to all the stores on any given day and be there at the right time when they open and beat out others.

That might sound mercenary but I guess it happens everywhere,99 % of the time I have always found "good" items i.e. harder to find figures at variety stores and even supermarket toy sections.

I recently realised to check above the racks in the cardboard boxes and look for 'spare' stock.

That has helped reap better finds....

I LOVE to try to track down the next "Hot" figure! I'll keep going into Wal-Mart, Target and Toys R Us till I find at least two of them. It took FOREVER for the last wave of TAC figures to be released here in Maine, and when it did I ran all over the place getting them. It seems like there is alway something that I missed, or the stores are out of, so I'm usually always on the hunt for something. When I find it, I enjoy it for a couple days or so, then it's on to the next item.

Okay well I just bought the Max Rebo Band set in package in good condition for 9 bucks at the local liquidation store. They use to have a lot of Star Wars figures but I guess other collectors go there as well; still that was a good deal I thought.

Not a bad deal at all Thrawn! Those sets are still 21 dollars at my local Wal-Mart.

Figures that are not in my hunt, pieces that don't necessarily fit my collection, I only add if I see them really cheap. Looking back though, that is how my collection started to expand so much. I started by just collecting one of each Jedi or Sith figures. Then it expanded to include clone troopers, then Imps, then rebel pilots...
Funny how little things can expand what area you actually collect.

You are so right Darth Eversio; that is how my collection has expanded so much.

Action figure hunting isn't as fun in Canada as it would be down in the US. First off we don't have target so all those exclusives we don't get so we have to go online to get. Second, Walmart and Toys R Us are not really as dedicated to Star Wars and really just have the "I don't care attitude" about what they have or don't have on shelves. My local walmarts are almost always bare of star wars stuff expect the normal peg warmers. Toys R Us isn't much better either. They did do a little more presentation for the 7/26 launch but they have half of what you guys get down South. Launches of waves are months behind you, the only good thing about that is the hard to get figures come out later so I know what to keep an eye out for.

DE, It would seem as though ALL Wal-Mart and Toys R Us stores are like that. The closest TRU to us litterally has not replenished at all since the launch! They told me brother that they get a case here and there but they sell as soon as the store opens. Wal-Mart is just terrible, giving you the standard "All we have is out, and we don't know when we are getting more"

Okay so my action figure hunting has paid off. I went to an old Antiques Mall about 30 min. South of the little town I live in. I picked up a carded Dash Rendar, Nien Nunb, Bib Fortuna, and Darth Sidious (Episode I) for only 3.75 a piece. I thought that was a good deal.
