Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is a real-time strategy game built on the Genie engine, the same one used in Age of Empires, and Age of Empires II. The factions in the original game include the Wookiees, Royal Naboo, the Trade Federation, the Empire, the Rebels, and the Gungans. Two campaigns in the game are centered on the Wookiee race, and one each centered on Gungans, the Trade Federation, the Galactic Empire, and the Rebel Alliance.
An expansion pack known as Clone Campaigns was released to the original game in 2002. Later in 2002, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga was released, containing both Galactic Battlegrounds and the Clone Campaigns expansion pack.
The expansion pack added the Republic and the CIS factions. Both of them have their own campaign.
A friend of mine loaned it to me, so I'm currently playing it. Anyone played it/own it?

I've got it. I like it, but it gets bogged down by too much resource collecting I do enjoy making my own Battlefield Maps though.

Personally, I think that it's a good game, but I do prefer Empire at War.

I really like it too but I think that Empire at War is etter also. It does have some similarities but is quite different and does not have any resource collecting. you can download the demo somewhere. search for it in google

EAW is full 3-D and it's set during the Galactic Civil War. It's very different from GBG, but still a RTS game.

This is one of my FAVORITE pc games. Mind you, I am not a huge gamer.. but I have my faves.. Age of Empires & Age of myth.. now this ! My AOE with a SW twist! I wish there were further upgrades and expansions to it to add MORE fields, locales , ships, and characters ..etc.. I haven't played EaW tho.. I have heard that is pretty cool too..
