Since only C-3PO had his memory wiped in Ep. III and not R2, wouldn't he have recognized Yoda when he went to Dagobah with Luke?

It seems to me that R2 should have been beeping like crazy trying to get acroos to Luke that that was Yoda. And, did he really think he stood a chance at trying to steal away that lamp from a Jedi Master?

Artoo will certainly know who Obi-Wan, Yoda etc actually are. That's why his memory was not wiped, he's just a droid who known when to keep his trap shut concerning secrets lol

He should have remembered Yoda, but he held onto that lamp like he was convinced it was being stolen, not something R2 should have thought of the Jedi Master.

I'm not a 100% sure Artoo recognized Yoda. I mean there are no scenes in the prequels where they are seen together... He most likely heard of him, but the point that he (maybe) hadn't seen Yoda yet before... Could that explain why he didn't recognize him on Dagobah... Or did he indeed just keep his mouth shut as he did with Obi-Wan... We can never be sure...

Kalin, consider this: there have only been 3 individuals of Yoda's species ever on record (and they all happend to be Jedi Masters coincidentally). Don't you think R2 would have recognized the only one of the three that he ever met?

R2 is a mechanoc driod. His job is purely as a tool. If it did recognized Yoda, it wasn't his job to tell. Now, if 3PO was in the same situation, he would have told eveything, because he is supposed to be a protocol droid.

You can say the same thing about Anakinand obi-wan , why didn't R2 say anything to luke? cause it would serve no purpose for R2 to say anything

But you don't know if he ever met Yoda... Yes there is only one brief moment where you see them together on Pollis Massa, but that's it movie wise... Of course I think he just kept his mouth shut when he saw Yoda and he did know him. The point if Artoo didn't recognize him as they only saw each other for a brief time in ep III is only small proof that there might be a chance that he didn't recognize him... I'm just trying to stay open-minded. But as I said probably he did recognize him, he only didn't mention anything to Luke cause he knew he had to keep it a secret, unlike Threepio who isn't good at keeping secrets.
