I'm from Mos Espa, and would like to roleplay some of the pod racing events, especially the Boonta Eve and some of the local races. If anyone would like to compete, judge or merely watch the races, let me know!
Any new racers, register at this thread, with your pod racer information, and any races you have competed in.
I will register first: My name is Shadskocha. I will enter my 94-N Turbodyne pod racer. I have won several past events with it, including Boonta Eve, Dug Derby, The Malastare 100, and the Spice Mine Run. I'm a distant cousin of the original Sebulba, a high-class racer from pod racing events in the past.

The Starlight Officer's Club would like to have a feed to such event. Let us know when the race begins so we can air it in the club.

Will do! We need at least 2 people competing or the race is kind of pointless! I have one competitor who may consider racing his pod racer besides myself.

Good to see you Ikrit! Well, we have 2 racers. I guess we can choose a date in the near future for a new race, and if anyone else wants to enter, register here! When we can agree on a date to race, I'll inform the Starlight Officer's Club, so they can broadcast it in their club.

(INCOMING MESSAGE) Do you know where to place bets on the race?

Jul 25, 2008 4:54 AM | Report Abuse reply
I can handle that. For local bets, place your bets at my page. If you're watching this event via the Starlight Officers' Club, you can check with General Crystal Starr Light. I think they handle bets there for the race.

I would like to join in a race. I've just found a Podracer and will be fixing it up. Hopefully I'll have it ready for the next round. Its an orange-hued Collor Pondrat Split-X racer.

Wonderful! Well, I'll be shooting for either the last week of August of the first week of September. Tuesday (the 26th) is out, as well as Friday (the 29th) and I doubt anyone will be available over the Labor Day weekend, so we'll cut out Saturday (the 30th) through Monday (the 2nd). I'm running a poll at my page for good times and dates most people can attend and be part of the 2nd event.

There will only 1 rule enforced by me as host, that all pod racers cannot exceed 750 mph top speed (1200 kilometers per hour) or they will be disqualified! No exceptions. If your pod racer has been modified and tested to exceed this top speed, you will need to tune your engines and fuel system down to abide by this rule! I'm only enforcing this to make the race fair for all and for safety reasons. Whizzing around the track at over 750 mph will cause shock waves (remember you're exceeding the speed of sound) to disrupt the area and is rather dangerous.

Ikrit provided me an excellent map of this circuit race:
http://tinyurl.com/6hzx7m
Everyone, please refer to this map for describing your point-of-view when you race, and this will give you an idea how the track is set, if you've never seen it before. As usual, there will be 6 holocams set up around the track, and the curved area (S-shaped - straight south-southeast of Ben's Mesa) is an exposed spot, which seems to be constantly infested with sniper Tusken Raiders. The coordinators of the event race have tried repeatedly to permanently get rid of these pests, but the noise of the race really attracts them! Just a warning.

I checked up on the actual speed of sound and it stands at about 770 mph (1243 km/hr), so I'll set the top speed limit at 750 miles/hour (1200 km/hr), which should keep the chance of the racers creating a sonic boom down to a minimum. From what I've read, most pod racers only reach max speeds of about 650 miles/hour.

to correct, my podracer goes nowhere near 750 mph (1200 kilometers/hour) top speed, but I won't give out that info right now....
