Three variations of the Grey Jedi code

"There is no Dark Side, nor a light side, there is only the Force. I will do what I must to keep the balance as the balance is what keeps me together. There is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish. There is passion, yet peace; Serenity, yet emotion; Chaos, yet order. I am the wielder of the flame, the protector of balance. I am the holder of the Torch, lighting the way. I am the keeper of the flame, soldier of balance. I am a Guardian of the Balance. I am a Gray Jedi."
?Leor Danal reciting The Gray Jedi Code for the first time while in a force trance : Jedi Master Lillian Rand

Through pain comes wisdom;
but not without ignorance comes knowledge.
There is no power; only the force.
There are no sides; only the whole. No darkness, No Light, only understanding: Jedi Master Rav'el samaad

There are emotions, yet we have Serenity.
There is Chaos, yet Harmony is produced.
There are passions, yet there can be Balance.

There's often hurry, still we cultivate patience.
There's much ignorance: this knowledge is wisdom.
There will be Death. But there is the Force

This is the ancient code of the grey: jedi master John Sislou

WARRIOR AND SAGE CLASSES

The Fire Warrior- They believed that the best approach to combat is a mixture of raw power and inner fire. Inner fire is the emotions of anger, calmness, and passion. They shrived for a balance of all three of these and used them to their advantage. They often used their inner fire to overpower their opponent with their strength and often opponents would back down out of sheer fear. A fire warrior takes the most angering moment of his life and focuses on it, making his passion and hatred grow. He also uses the most loving moment of his life, and most tranquil moment of his life to keep this hatred in check. Thus giving him the physical prowess without being susceptible to his emotions controlling him and disrupting the balance. They also were skilled in a ancient sith technique where they could gain strength from force sensitives, similar to Force Drain. The form of lightsaber that they used was similar to Vaapaad.

The Water Warrior- They believed that the warrior must be flexible as water and just as unyielding. They drew not on inner fire, but on inner calmness. They believed a mind like the moon or water in a state of pure awareness was best. They could block their opponents with great skill because they could see the attack before it happened. Often they wouldn't even bother fighting, choosing instead to let their opponent tire themselves out while always evading them. They used the force to heighten their awareness and to empower them. They mastered the art of Force Sight, Force Perception, and Force Seeing. They also had techniques to blind their opponents, to use their lack of awareness against them.

The Wind Sages- Focused on being the perfect balance of intellect and power. They favored unarmed combat and mastery of the force.
They are considered the most mystical out of all the classes and hardest to become. They believed that weapons dulled the senses and weakened the body. They use the Force for 100% of their offense and defense and instead of using lightsabers their fighting style is a unique mixture between force powers and martial arts which they called Mahu'Kate. They are able to cause "storms" in the Force This storm can do anything from ripping a fleet of ships to shreds to transporting a ship thousands of light-years across the galaxy. They are also one of the only two sects to have the deadly knowledge of the Thought Bomb. When done correctly, this requires the sacrifice of the user to empower it. It then targets all force sensitive enemies and wipes them out completely, destroying clothes, bodies, bones, cities, ships, anything in its path. When done incorrectly however, every single thing in its path will die, not just the user's enemies.
They studied ancient sith holocrons and held many secrets of the force, including how to banish another into a different plane of existence.

The Ice Sages- Focused entirely on the Force. Discovering the mysteries of the galaxy and constantly seeking to bring all forces into balance. They valued intelligence and calmness above all else. They used combat only when needed and often in war would provide battle meditation and other defensive force abilities to their comrades.

Although these classes specialize in specific areas and Force powers, these are not limited to such... Anyone of any class can have knowledge from a sith holocron or focus on a certain technique. The abilities listed in the classes refers to the powers that are very useful to that class and perhaps comes more naturally to them.

GREY JEDI RANKS
There are six ranks of the Grey Jedi.

The first is Genin which is a new member to the order.

Second is the Grey Knight which is earned after passing the Grey Knight trials. Grey knights are still considered in a training period in which they still must go on missions with another Grey Knight or higher.

Third is Silver Knight which is achieved after two years of being a Grey Knight. The Silver Knight may go on missions alone and after five years may take the Silver Knight trials to become the final level of Knight.

Fourth is Chunin, this is when the Chunin may take on a Genin to train until the Genin reaches the rank of Grey Jedi Knight. After successfully training a Genin and passing the final Knight test they are elevated to Master.

Fifth is Grey Jedi Master. To achieve the final rank of master one must take the Master trials.

Sixth is Jonin the final rank of Master. These are the ones who sit at the council.

The final rank is Kage, or "Grand Master." The Grey Jedi believed that "Grand Master" sounded to presumptions, so they gave their leader the position of Kage. The Kage is elected and serves a term of normally ten years unless it is cut short sooner.

GRAY JEDI HISTORY

"Jinn always does things his own way, always sure he is right, always incredulous if we do not see it his way. Some think he is a gray Jedi."
?Tyvokka on Qui-Gon Jinn

Gray Jedi was a term, sometimes used pejoratively, that described Jedi who were thought to operate independently and often outside the strictures of the High Council.

The term itself seems to date back as far as the Old Sith Wars. Certainly, during this time period, Gray Jedi themselves seem to have become associated even with a certain variety of robe. In the following millennia, the term continued to increase in usage, most likely due to the increasing trend towards centralization of power in the Order, and the increased prominence of the Jedi Council itself.

Relationship with the Council

"If you would just follow the code, you would be on the Council. They will not go along with you this time."
"You still have much to learn, my young apprentice."
?Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn

Most Gray Jedi had a tense relationship with the Council; while, for most intents and purposes, they were loyal members of the Jedi Order, their maverick natures often put them into conflict with it, especially against more conservative members of the Council.

It is perhaps this friction, combined with their unorthodox behavior that made it rare for a Gray Jedi to join the Council themselves or ascend to any position of real leadership in the order. After all, the High Council chose its own members, and most of the time their preference was for orthodox Jedi, such as the group described as the Old Guard. Qui-Gon Jinn's candidacy was rejected in favor of Plo Koon, and then Ki-Adi-Mundi, both of whom were more in line with the Council's way of thinking.

Traits

Although the term gray is often thought to refer to Force users believed to skirt the line between the light side and dark side, Gray Jedi were not exclusively followers of such a creed.

Indeed Qui-Gon Jinn himself, one of the most famous of the so-named Gray Jedi, was a staunch adherent of the Living Force, and as much aware of the dark side's lure as any of his peers. He may have been unorthodox, both in his behavior and relationship with the Council, but there was never any doubt of Jinn's adherence to the core of the Jedi philosophy. Gray Jedi were also known to have worn their own robes, as if it was an official faction.

Potentium

Counter to millennia of Jedi teachings, the followers of Potentium claimed that there was no inherent evil in viewing the Force. They claimed that what others called the light side was actually just the Force itself, which is inherently good. This was backed up by the fact that Ashla, the ancient name of the Force, came later to describe the Light Side. What others therefore called the dark side was a perversion of the Force, twisted by those who used it. Believers of Potentium said that the potential for light and dark sides resided in the user, not the Force itself. They also thought that the Jedi Masters refused to believe in the Potentium view because it would mean the Jedi weren't needed to fight evil, for evil would not exist. And since there was no dark side, there were no dark side actions or Force techniques; in effect any action, good or evil, could be performed without risk as long as the intent wasn't evil.

About a century before the Battle of Naboo, the followers of Potentium were expelled from the Jedi Order, parallel to the Jedi Order's treatment of Gray Jedi as "misguided." Yoda and the rest of the Jedi Council didn't consider them Dark Jedi, but they said it was the duty of the Jedi to use the Force to protect others, not study its absolute limits. The Council said that testing the Force to its limits would lead to the dark side.

Followers

The basic precepts of the Potentium may have been influenced by the morally relativistic and solipsistic philosophy espoused by Jedi Master Phanius around 2,000 BBY.

The Potentium was theorized in 132 BBY. At the time the Potentium were expelled from the Jedi, Leor Hal was their leader. Prior to their expulsion, Hal had recruited many students from prospective Jedi among the aristrocratic families of Coruscant and Alderaan.

Sekot, the intelligence of Zonama Sekot, accepted Potentium after its awakening, when it was colonized by some of the outcast followers under Hal. The colonists felt Zonama Sekot was proof of the Potentium philosophy, and Sekot eventually came to consider itself the protector of the Force (though as some derisively pointed out, this protectorship was self-appointed). Vergere, an Old Republic Jedi who was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong, is believed to have taken this heresy as one of the contributing factors in her teachings, although contradicting the Potentiate's main edicts of evil being nonexistent.

Following the expulsion of Hal, Qui-Gon Jinn and Mace Windu had a run-in with a group of Potentium apprentices.

Although many believe that Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order practiced this belief after the Yuuzhan Vong War through Jacen Solo's insistence, it was actually closer to the philosophy of Gray Jedi as stated by the Grand Master himself after the Liberation of Coruscant.

OUR WORLD Zonama Sekoth,

"When first arriving on the planet, the six other Gray Jedi did not believe Dade Leviathan when he said that the planet itself was a sentient being. They learned quickly, however, that they were very wrong. The planet's sentient mind, calling itself Sekot, spoke to the Gray Jedi, telling them that it also believed that same way as they did about the force. It showed them how the planet itself had amazing, if untrained, force powers and how the planet itself could build living, breathing ships. Without a second thought in their mind, the Gray Jedi chose to make this planet their permanent home. Upon gaining the respect of the native residents, the Ferroans and the Langhesi, the Gray Jedi were able to get their help to build a secret temple in the valley behind the large mountain range. The temple was simple, yet elegant. While lacking in the grandeur of the Jedi temple on Coruscant, the Gray Jedi Temple was beautiful in its own right. It was built of one hundred percent natural elements from the planet itself. These elements made it so the planet was literally a living organism as well as a building. This allowed for great security for the Gray Jedi, as they could make sure that none but their allies would be able to get in."

Zonama Sekot's first settlers were black-haired humanoid Ferroan colonists and red-skinned Langhesi colonists, and the living world was ruled by Magisters. The Ferroans were believers in the Potentium view of the Force, which denied the existence of both the light and dark sides. The Langhesi and Ferroans settled the planet in 89 BBY.

Vergere encounters the Yuuzhan Vong on Zonama Sekot's surface.

During the time of the old Galactic Republic, Zonama Sekot was rumored to be home to the fastest ships in the galaxy. Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, traveled there to find fellow Jedi Vergere and to purchase one of the planet's living ships. Anakin bonded with a record twelve seed-partners, Obi-Wan bonded with an additional three. Even Kyp Durron only bonded with five. While Zonama Sekot was under attack from the Yuuzhan Vong (32 BBY?30 BBY), it was able to defeat them. Later Wilhuff Tarkin, then a Republic commander, declared war on the living world and attacked it in 29 BBY. Zonama Sekot unveiled its hyperdrive system and escaped into the Unknown Regions.

In the following years, stories of the "rogue planet" that had once made living ships circulated among many in the Outer Rim.

Many years later during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade Skywalker, Jacen Solo, R2-D2, and several other Jedi traveled to Zonama Sekot, which harbored the long forgotten secrets of the galaxy's invaders. Recognizing a glimmer of Anakin Skywalker in Luke and Jacen, Sekot allowed them to land and tested them. Sekot offered to destroy the Yuuzhan Vong entirely, but both Luke and Jacen refused. Nevertheless, Sekot decided to help them, in another way. Later, Nom Anor disguised himself as Yu'shaa, the leader of the underground Jeedai heretics, tried without success to destroy the living world.

Zonama Sekot traveled to Yuuzhan Vong-held Coruscant, which had been renamed Yuuzhan'tar, and forged a peace between the Yuuzhan Vong and the Galactic Alliance. Converted and surrendered Yuuzhan Vong came to call Zonama home, and a number of communities were established. One such village was La'okio, created as an experiment to break down the walls dividing the Yuuzhan Vong castes by grouping the beings into mixed groups.

Reh'mwa, a leader of the Bothan ar'kai against the Yuuzhan Vong, provisioned the Avengeance for searching for Zonama Sekot in the Unknown Regions.

At the start of the Sith-Imperial War, it retreated further into the Unknown Regions, stranding the Yuuzhan Vong who remained in the galaxy as part of the Ossus Project. As of 130 ABY it was located in the Unknown Regions, roughly halfway between Lwhekk and Lehon. It has also demonstrated several times to have remarkable Force powers, though fairly untrained.

~Dark Side Compendium~

The Book of Anger

I wanted to let everyone know a little about the deeper mysteries of the Sith. There might be some of you here who have never heard of the "Book of Anger." It is one of the books in the Dark Side Compendium, written by Darth Sidious. It describes the nature of the dark side and how to manipulate the Force for your own purposes. I think the most powerful teaching in the book is how to harness and controll one's anger in the most efficient ways, to make it your advantage. Many of these secrets were revealed by fallen Jedi, while other ancient secrets were obtained from Jedi Holocrons.

The book revealed that Palpatine considered the Force to be sensed and moved by emotions from the very center of the body, and mediated from the lower vital centers of the being. The Emperor believed it could act with the destructive power of a storm and the savagery of a beast.

Palpatine considered Anger as the most potent catalyst to this kind of destructive power; when channeled through the "vital gate" in the center of the body, Anger becomes Rage, and can unleash absolutely unstoppable potency throughout the body.

However, Palpatine knew anger was a two-edged sword. He therefore mentioned the importance of a fine intelligence standing watch over anger. A proper balance among intelligence and anger would grant one the aggression that can kill with precision, crush cartilage from afar, or as Palpatine claimed, murder opponents from a great distance.

Palpatine also recorded the origin of his most powerful ability: Force storms. However he confessed in the Book that he was not able to completely control such a destructive phenomenon once he had triggered their onset.

The Weakness of Inferiors

The Weakness of Inferiors was the second volume of Emperor Palpatine's Dark Side Compendium. The Weakness of Inferiors talked about the secrets of control?without violence?over the innocent, the ignorant, and "all inferiors". It discussed ways to properly control and persuade the weak using the Force. Palpatine advocated a mix of fear and awe.

Palpatine was most proud about this arrogant teaching. All the content in The Weakness of Inferiors was developed by Palpatine himself, out of his own experience. Palpatine revealed this volume to Luke Skywalker without hesitation, convinced that young Skywalker was forever lost in the dark side of the Force.

This volume covered mainly four aspects:

All power comes from outside the weak.
The face of authority.
The law of fear.
The weak do not understand the Force.

The Creation of Monsters

The Creation of Monsters was the third volume of Emperor Palpatine's Dark Side Compendium. It covered the subject of properly mastering and harnessing the technique of Sith Alchemy.

Unlike the first two, the Creation of Monsters was unfinished at the time of Palpatine's first death at the Battle of Endor, being left in a nearly-complete M@#$%CRIPT form

Light

"A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack."
?Yoda[src]

Light side powers were the Force powers that the user accessed through the Force's light side. The Jedi used them for protection, increasing

physical and mental capacities, and for defense. They could also inspire and increase the resolve of allies. Certain light side powers could

also be used offensively, but did not directly cause physical harm.

Dark

"The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."
?Palpatine[src]

Dark side powers were used to harm, debilitate, or kill. Some (like Rage or Drain) were used to benefit the user personally, akin to powers

of the light side, with the difference that these were used at the expense of his or her own health or an other individual's Force reserve.

The Dark Side draws its power from emotion, and while the intent behind their use may well have been good at the time, it is most likely to

lead one to further spiritual corruption from overuse, without the proper self control and mindset. Continuous use of dark powers was shown

to have a physically corrupting effect on the Force-user, regardless of intent, due to the body being unable to handle such power for long

periods of time.
