OOC: Think of flowing water as it takes the path of least resistance. The flow is altered when an object outside the flow of water is introduced. Water flows around a rock, not through it.

The Force flows through everything. It's path unchanged on it's own. When it reaches a Yuuzhan Vong, it flows around the being, not through it as they exist outside the Force. This creates a void in the space and time flow of the Force.

Even on a planet such as Hoth, the Force still flows filling time and space as it makes it's way from living entity to living entity. Changes in the flow would indicate an abnormality of the Force, ysalamiri or Yuuzhan Vong the most likely candidates.

The range could not be great or far, but if within a few meters, a master should be able to detect the "disturbance" created in the space and time flow of the Force.
