Web Comics
Okay, so I know this is a werid thing to blog about, but I love webcomics. I love them so much that I want to spread the word about some of the ones I read. They are all in some way hilarious, and many of them make Star Wars references from time to time.
So, if you're reading this and you find a webcomic here that might appeal to you, I encourage you to check them out.
questionablecontent.net- "Questionable Content" by artist/writer Jeph Jacques is about a young man, his robotic computer, and his mixed up group of post-college friends. I'd recommend this to readers 16 and older. There is some cussing, but the strip is laden with pop culture references; yes, StarWars references included. One of my favorites.
licd.com- "Least I Could Do" by Writer Ryan Sohmer and Artist Lar DeSouza is a more adult comic, probably NSFW. It pertains to the antics of a philandering young man and his daily life. The strip is somewhat autobiographical of the writer, and references are made to not only Star Wars, but also Lord of the Rings and many other staples in Pop Culture. Darth Vader fans will like this because one of the characters has the Dark Lord himself portrayed as a physical manifestation of his dark side. It's actually quite funny.
lfgcomic.com- "Looking For Group" This one is also by Ryan Sohmer and Lar DeSouza. This strip is safe for younger readers and makes fun of all things War Craft and the like. It is set in a War Craft-Lord Of The Rings setting and follows the actions of the good-hearted Elvin Hero, an undead (not to mention hilarious) evil warlock named Richard, a priestess of unknown origin, a dwarven princess, and a giant anthropomorphic Ox. It's insanely funny and it also makes StarWars refernces if you can catch them. Probably my all-time favorite.
drmcninja.com- "The Adventures of Dr. Mcninja"- This particular comic, by a trio whose names elude me, is more in the tradition comic book style many of us have come to love. This is good for 15 year olds and up in my opinion. It does contain violence, but language is kept to a minimum. It is about an Irish ninja who happens to be a doctor and his 12 year old dinosaur riding, gun slinging sidekick. The sheer silliness of the comic is what I like about it. There is one StarWars reference that I can think of, but you have to find it. *Hint, read the story titled "Punch Dracula", When you move your mouse over the pages you get those little dialogue boxes. I don't know what those are called.*
johnnywander.com- "Johnny Wander" By arist Yuko Ota and writer Ananth Panagariya (I hope I spelled that right) is an autobiographical account on the lives of the post college of the writer and author. They share with the reader some of the happenings of their daily lives and even the silly tidbits. This is safe for all readers and is better than I'm making this sound. Miss Ota and Mr. Panagariya have great senses of humor.
snafucomics.com- This website is a conglomerate of comics by a group of different artists. If you like anime, the old cartoons from Cartoon Network, and spoofing, then you're bound to like some of the stuff that's up there. I recommend "Grim Tales" this is a take on "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" combined with "The Nightmare Before Christmas". (Hated "Billy and Mandy", but love the comic and "Nightmare".)
These are all the ones I read on a regular basis. If I find more and If I like them I'll pass the word on. I hope you enjoy them!
