The Day...that changed it all

As I held my mother's cold body I wondered how could my life change in a matter of minutes. Flashing back, I only woke up with one thing on my mind: my father's return from Ralltiir. I had not seen my father for months so his return was anticipated by my family and the Rebel Alliance. Sinsori, my father, worked for Chandrilan Resistance, but he had not reported in for weeks. When the door opened we rushed to meet our father with warm hugs. My sister and I were the most excited to see our father though both my mother and brother seemed suspicious for it was unlike my father not to contact his family. My mother, who worked for the Royal Intelligence Service of Hapes Consortium, must have sensed a strong change in my father for my sister and I were told to leave them alone. My brother, Jeronah, who was a Jedi Knight, easily picked up my father's change and the negative energy splurging from him. I kept hearing the same words from anger, hate, deceit, Imperial to love, happiness, family and Rebel Alliance. It was a battle of Light and Dark taking place in the middle of our living room. My sister, Srinah Melria, and I walked into the outburst of screams and yells.

I looked to my mother, Ka'lena, who was now being lifted off the ground and holding her throat when she suddenly saw us, she started to whimper and beg my father to stop with what words that slipped from her mouth. I turned to my father waiting for his reply; I noticed his arm was extended out toward my mother and that his hand looked as if he was gripping something. My father laughed at my mother's "pathetic" attempt to speak which Jeronah took advantage of and sent a powerful wave of wind, from my view at the time, to stop Sinsori's action. As this happened, my mother fell to the floor and I ran to her side but, Srinah went to hide behind a couch even though she was older than myself. The humming instantly came with the wicked laugh of my father. Flashes of red and blue lights collided together, waiting for the other light to die out. Abruptly it was over when my brother softly said, "Redemption" as the red light slashed him down.

My mother's moans and cries were as if her heart and soul were ripped from her after seeing the death of her son, her blood. She quickly stood and pushed me behind her, standing in front of Srinah and I, to protect her two daughters the best she could. She started shaking her head and asked, "Why? Why would you turn not only your back on your family and the Alliance, but the light?!? You turned information over to the Imperial Intelligence for what? Your life? Is it worth it now that you have lost everything? What kind of beast and traitor are you to take the life of your own and only son?!?"

"Ka'lena, he was a Jedi that is why. Recently I have seen that my place lays in the Dark Side and that I shall gain true power. It is worth it to me and your right. It was to save my own skin....our skin and I had no choice, but to give information to them. I had no remorse for what I had done and I even found a group of people I belong with much to my surprise they are like me and they want the same things I do. I am a traitor to the Light and I am a beast for the death I have and will cause. I am going to be far worse then my descendant, Freedon Nadd, for I will be merciless and ruthless. Now my dear wife, it is time for you to decide your fate since it is held in my hands. Join me or die," coldly spoke Sinsori, knowing it could be his last words to his wife.

"Then death is my path," answered my mother with a calm tone. She glanced to us and spoke her final words, "I love you" as the red blade came to meet her torso. The sparkle in her eyes left with emptiness replacing it. My sister's yelps drowned out my cries of despair. Filled with anger, I ran at my father and kicked him as hard as I could at his shin then bit his thigh. Since I was only a youngling of four, Sinsori effortlessly picked me up and threw me toward a wall. He wasn't mad instead he was amused that I would even try to attack him and he was pleased that I gave into my rage. It was now my sister's turn. Srinah knew to join him would lead to the Dark Side but, she didn't want to suffer the fate of her mother and brother. Her choice was easy as she walked to stand beside our father. I believe her life died that day, a worse death than our mother and brother. Her life was now in control by her father, her soon to be Master.

The steps to death grew closer. "Death" was the simply and quick answer I gave to my father. I stared into his eyes while his lightsaber swung down toward me. The door immediately flew open with three Jedi running in to save whoever was left and ready to challenge my father. Sinsori pulled back his swing and glared into my eyes, "Lucky you are, but you will follow my path." Then a mysterious wind blew down a wall of our home and carried my father and sister down to safety as they disappeared into the night.

As a youngling, there was nothing I could do, but watch my family fall apart. My way of the life was pulled from underneath me. So I looked at the situation laid before me. My home was destroyed, two family member's bodies covered with blood, a sister turned to the dark and a father who betrayed his family and the whole Alliance right in front of my eyes. It was like a horrible nightmare. I kneeled and reached my tiny arms out to hold my mother. I watched my tears fall onto her pale cheeks just waiting for them to gain color. When I turned my gaze to my brother, his body looked peaceful as if he was sleeping.

The Jedi told me that they came once they felt the passing of my brother through the Force and that he tried to call out to them right before he died. The Jedi also gave me comfort and assured me that everything was going to be alright. One female Jedi told me of her similar and painful childhood story. She told me some of the basics of a Jedi and even recited their Code. She gave me hope and faith when I thought all was lost. Her name I will never forget, it was that of Meloria. It was difficult for me to take my eyes off her lightsaber cane until I started to eavesdrop on the Jedi talking about my situation and how someone was coming to pick me up and be my guardian for the time being. I decided at that moment I wanted to be a Jedi just as my brother was and that I would be honored to live that life. As I made my decision one of my mother's closest friends, Canna Omonda, the Senator of Chandrila and the Bormea Sector arrived to spare my eyes of the slaying that was displayed in our once diplomatic and serene living room. I was fortunate that the Canna was visiting and staying at a hotel close to our home. It was her first and last trip to Onderon.

Canna Omonda and I thanked the Jedi then promptly left hand in hand. We flew back to her Homeworld of Chandrila and she took me under her wing for three years. Those were some of the happiest years I have ever had. When the Imperial Senate dissolved, my situation would take another bad turn. Canna had publicly voiced her despise of the Empire which caused her to be arrested and eventually executed.
