Tuskers's Profile »
Part 4, The Dragon Cave, with fellow Grey Genin Count Corey Dooku
*Tuskers returns to Zonama Sekot aboard the Whitestar
*Seeing no one in the Temple, or the Academy, or reading the Holocron of Wisdom, Tuskers comes into the Training room. He says hello to Count Corey Dooku as he enters the training room.
I just wanted to check in with someone before I started on my journey. From what I?ve been able to find out, the trials are straight forward. Demonstrating Force abilities in four trials, then travelling to a Dragon Cave. I'd assume that we're supposed to bring back some kind of token from the cave. Perhaps a dragon scale?
Being patient is good for a Jedi, but my Master has been gone for seven weeks without a word. I've learned much, but I think its time to take the journey to the Dragon Cave, and see what I find.
*Tuskers leaves the Training room with his Lightsaber and a simple pack with water and food.
Let's see, the information that I have means I should head in this direction.
Corey, watching Tuskers head out, decides to join him. "Hey wait for me. You might need a little help. With this new size and strength we could help each other."
Along the way to the Dragon Cave, Corey and Tuskers encounter the natives of Zonama Sekot, the blue skinned Ferroans and the red skinned Langhesi. We act openly, and treat them with respect, and they act in kind.
After a few hours jouney, Corey and Tuskers stop seeing any signs of civiliation.
Ascending a mountain that the Force has guided them to, they start to get the feeling that they are very close. Being that they have travelled all day, they decide to camp here, and attempt to cover the last couple kilometers in the morning.
Sleeping out in the open, on a living planet that eminates the Force, it's a strange experience. I had dream visions unlike anything I've experienced before. Very vivid dreams, with much clarity. Unfortunetly, I couldn't tell if these visions were past events, or future visions.
After waking, we started walking? And walking. Oh, my! There are tons of caves hidden in this mountain range. How do we find the right one? Well, this is a trial of my Force abilities.
We both stop, stand still for a moment, then turn about and start walking the other direction. Something is this way, and it has our attention.
We are talking about what we have heard of the Dragon Cave, Is there a creature in the cavern? Or possibly just a spirit? We have little information, actually none. We think the trial is made that way, so we have to use our wits.
Following the Force, the pair come across the cave that has to be called Dragon. There are stalactites and stalagmites that resemble teeth. There are also signs that the cave could be inhabited. Large scrape marks on the ground could have been caused by something like a Krayt Dragon entering and exiting the cave.
They cautiously approach the cavern, extending their senses with the Force. Even taking the precaution of using Force Cloak to hide their presence.
They cannot feel a specific threat in the cavern, no signs of life.
Tuskers leaps up the side of the cavern, making several Force assisted jumps, he is quickly on the other side of the opening.
Corey and Tuskers look at each other for a second, and uncliping but not igniting their Lightsabers they both step out into the opening from opposite sides.
Corey looking over at Tuskers, "Well this is what we wanted no turning back now."
Corey, reaches out with the force to see if he could feel something. Its was not a easy feeling to let go. Speaking to Tuskers with the Force (Tuskers, somethings not right. I mean I cant put my finger on it) Looking still to find a answer, we came to far to turn back now.
Corey slowly enter the next room trying not make too much noise. Almost out of Tuskers view, (Man, this is what we wanted a mission to find if we have it or not.)
Tuskers proceeds down the other side of the cavern. Holding his Lightsaber at ready, but not wanting to advertise his postion by igniting it.
There is definetly something here, but it could be a Force echo... Something strong with the Force that was left in this cave, or it may jump out at us at any second.
Several small creatures go running away, startled by the precense of the two Genin. But as we go deeper into the cave, it becomes apparent that it doesn't contain any dragon at this time.
The pair relax a little bit, and keep walking deeper into the cavern, and although it narrows, it doesn't end anytime soon.
They explore carefully, so as not to fall or miss anything, and time passes.
Slowly we check behind each opening as we keep moving forward. The room is getting harder to move around.
Corey asks, "Tuskers, what is that? I mean I sense something moving towards us, but I cant tell what it is or where."
"Perhaps we do have a dragon here... But the air is so moist in here. It can't be a Krayt dragon, they are used to the desert..."
A large creature comes out of a side cavern. It is startled to see them, but one look says that it is going to protect its territory.
We back off a little bit, finally lighting the sabers we've been holding.
Corey bounces forward to attack, but I call him off... I hold up my free hand, using a little of the Force Push, and a little Jedi Mind trick to get the large beast to back down.
Corey sees what I'm doing, and adds his powers to my own.
While paying close attention to the large 'dragon' that is now sitting in a side cavern, Tuskers turns to Corey. "You know, there is something further along this cavern that is our real goal. I think that is why we were having trouble seeing this animal with the Force. Because whatever it is down there, it's bigger than this."
Corey replies, "You could be right. But I am taking a Dragon scale just in case."
"Oh, please do! I wouldn't want to have to come back here just because we forgot."
They continue past the 'dragon' cavern, and deeper into the mountain. Much deeper....
As the descend, they are stretching out with the Force, trying to figure out what's going on. They also notice that the cavern is getting much moister.
There are many things that happen along the way, slips that could have ended their journeys, and encounters with other smaller beasts. But two trained Genin didn?t have any problems passing these obstacles.
As the decend into what surely must be the center of the planet, the cavern opens up so large, they can no longer see the sides or top.
Ahead of them, is a giant glacier of ice. It is also the source of the strong feelings that they have been getting.
The Ice glacier must be millions of years old... And it gives off such a strong feeling of the force, that they have to put up mental shields to protect themselves.
"I've got it... I know what we're feeling. Well, mostly."
Corey looks at Tuskers and suddenly realizes that he also knows what they are feeling.
They both exclaim, "Lightsaber crystals"
Corey and Tuskers approach the giant glacier, and start checking out the surface... After a couple of minutes, they have each selected a lightsaber crystal (or two) that they stuff into their packs for the long journey back to the surface.
The secret of the Dragon cave did not turn out to be dragons, but it was a wonderful lesson for both these Genin.
