Typhon Republic

Tuskers, Another Adventure

Tuskers is off to the Typhon System to help the government with some problems.

He's encountering some problems along the way. It should be fun.

*The Whitestar exits hyperspace and heads to Typhon Prime. Tuskers chooses not to contact Grand Archon Palz, and instead contacts the House of Lords where a social gathering was scheduled for this afternoon. Palz had gotten Tuskers and Leena credentials to get into the party.*
Tuskers smiles as Leena appears, wearing a very beautiful maroon gown that compliments her Twi'lek skin

*Tuskers dresses to impress in his best Tux, as Leena lands the Whitestar* "Well, beautiful, don't say that I never take you anywhere."
"You scoundrel. I'm only here because you need me. You need me to charm and distract these Lords, so you can try to figure out what's going on."
"I need you, because I wouldn't want to attend a fancy party without my lady on my arm."
She kisses his cheek, and they descend the ramp and catch a ride to the party.

Tuskers arrives at a Grand Ballroom, and he and Leena approach the security checkpoint.
The guards look over their invites, then start to wave them through. Suddenly, they stop Tuskers. "Sir, you'll have to check your weapon."
Tuskers waves his hand, "I'm handing you my weapon."
"Thank you sir" The guard says, and waves them forward.
Leena looks at Tuskers, "What was that?"
"Jedi Mind trick. I'm not going anywhere unarmed."
"This is a social setting, why are you so nervous?" Leena whispers.
Tuskers looks around, making sure no one can hear him. "After what happened before, I'm not taking chances. I had wished to bring along Corey and Crystal also, but there wasn't time to arrange for them to attend."
"Well, I would have enjoyed Crystals company. You should have tried harder."
Tuskers looks at Leena with a questioning gaze, "How much time have you been spending with my niece?"
"Enough... Now, are we going to start meeting these Lords? I thought you said there were twenty? There are at least three times that number of couples here."

"Ah, you must be Kage Tuskers!" A Typh male with fine silk clothing approaches. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Lord Lenol of Typhon Epsilon. You may have heard of me from Grand Archon Palz? I work directly with him."

"Lord Lenol, of course. Thank you for having us at the party. This is my significant other, Leena."
Leena greets the Lord, "Lord Lenol, I'm charmed. If I may? We were told that there are twenty planets of the Typhon Republic, but there seem to be many more here."
"Twenty? Oh, no, dear lady... There are Sixty-Eight inhabited planets in the Typhon Republic. They represent twenty different orbits around the three primary stars."
Tuskers looks slightly confused, "I'm sorry, you said sixty-eight inhabited planets and moons? Well, that makes a search much more daunting."
"Kage Tuskers, whatever would you be searching for here?"
"Um, that's a story for another time, I guess. So, would you care to introduce us to some of the other Lords?"
Leena looks slightly overwhelmed at the idea of meeting sixty-eight Lords. Lord Lenol sees this, "Don't worry, dear lady, no one expects you to remember everyone. Just be pleasant, and your looks will charm them." Leena smiles at his comment.
-------------------------------------------------------------

The party continues. Lord Lenol introduces a number of the other Lords to Tuskers and Leena, but it has all become a blur after a few dozen guests. Finally, the dinner is called, and they proceed to the banquet hall. As honored guests, they are asked to sit at the head table, much to Tuskers chagrin.
Leena quietly teases, "Don't like all the attention, my darling? As a leader, I'd think you'd be used to this type of thing."
Tuskers puts on his best smile, "We don't do many formal events at the Grey Temple. Perhaps we should start doing so? You can host..."
A feast is served, fine foods from thoughout the Typhon Republic. This meal was meant to impress, and impress it did. Even some of the gathered Lords were not likely to forget some of the delicacies served this day.

Leena is eating lightly, and advised Tuskers to do the same. "You never know how many courses of food they are going to serve, and it would be rude to turn down food of this quality."

Conversation continues thoughout the meal, and Tuskers finally manages to get Lord Lenol to mention the gems. Lord Lenol is very proud to be a holder of the Gems, and he calls for a servant to bring out a box that contains his three gems. Tuskers can feel their power as soon as the box enters the room. Something about them being together must intesify their Force power.

Tuskers concentrates on the Gems, but cannot get a glimpse into their past anymore than when he encountered the first gem. He knows that he will be able to quickly identify any future gems, although each is slightly different in shape and color, they all share a simliar size of just larger than a fist.
Tuskers feels like he's ready to leave, but decorum dictates that he remain, and Leena does not want to be rude to their hosts.

After dinner, Leena is impressed when Tuskers dances with her, the first opportunity that he's had to do so since his lessons. They end up having a wonderful time at the party.

---------------------

The Whitestar approaches Typhon Epsilon, Tuskers wanting to speak to Lord Lenol some more in a more private setting. Finding out which of the three cities that Lenol resides only takes a moment, and the Whitestar lands there.

Leena and Tuskers decend the ramp, and are greeted by Lord Lenol himself. They are offered a tour of the city and mining facilities.

"Being that we're living around a gas giant, mining isn't quite the same. We are not diggers, but instead, we collect gases, and separate out the ones we need. Oxygen is important to some of our sister planets, that dwell on the ocean floor. Other gases are valuable for starships and weapons."

Tuskers asks, "I've heard that the mining guild is located on Typhon Eta? How much control do they have over your operations?"

"Control?" Lord Lenol doesn't look happy with the question, but he quickly recovers. "Their position is that we should meet certain quotas. But we often have to modify their expectations with our own needs for profit or what is available to mine."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. I'm just trying to understand how things operate."

"No, it's an old fight that we'd rather have to argue with them. I hope that some new changes will provide a solution to the problem."
Tuskers files that thought for later investigation.

Leena asks, "How is the gas collected, by Bussard Ramscoop, or just ventilation? And how do you ensure that the city is safe from unwanted gases."

"You are very knowledgable. Yes, we use a ramscoop design. It's a slow process, but when we find a gas that we want to collect, we simply move the city slowly into the pocket. There is always the risk of something happening to the shields, and it could end badly. But we have redundant systems, and airtight doorways."

Lord Lenol is called away, he drops Tuskers and Leena off in a random conference room.

"Well, that was incredible."

"Really, Leena, I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. I suppose you'd rather stay here..."

"Don't you dare suggest that I would rather live here instead of our beautiful beach. You'll find yourself falling a long way down to the surface of this planet."

"Whoa... Easy there! I was only joking." Tuskers puts his arms around Leena, hugging her tightly. "I can't wait to get back to the beach, and sit there with you for a while."

They stand like that, gazing out the window for a while.

Suddenly, a gas starts to come in through the ventilation system. "Leena, hold your breath."

Tuskers quickly activates his lightsaber, and starts carving open the door to the hallway. With a final kick, the door falls to the floor. Tuskers turns back to grab Leena, but she's rushing past him and into the hall, gasping for air.

"Are you alright?" Tuskers asks as they move further down the hallway, his eyes darting around for any other signs of danger.

Leena continues coughing slightly, but otherwise indicates she is okay. He says, "Let's get you back to the ship, I think we've overstayed our welcome."

She looks him in the eye, "And you are staying?"

"I think I need a minute of converstation with Lord Lenol. And perhaps I'll pickup the two gems he's hiding here."

"How do you know?" She looks at the ignited Amber blade. "He shouldn't mess with a Jedi."

Tuskers escorts Leena back to the Whitestar, and she quickly boards the ship.

"Don't worry, Meli will be protecting you until you jump to lightspeed, then she'll come back and pick me up."

"Me, worry? We were almost gassed to death, why should I worry?" Her gaze is pleeding for him to come along, but she doesn't ask.

Tuskers gives her a crooked grin. "I'll be at the beach before you."

"You'd better be." She gives him a hug and kiss, then heads into the ship and takes off.

The Sekotan Skiff can be seen heading in their direction, and follows the YT-1930 as it rises away from the city. "Watch her carefully Meli."

Tuskers turns back to the entrance to the city, but guards are starting to fire in his direction. Igniting his lightsaber, he deflects shots. His blade drew glowing lines through the air, casting energy bolts back at the troopers who'd fired them, sending them sprawling in a shower of sparks.

Tuskers sees a landing platform a distance downward off to his left. He gets a running start, and leaps off his platform to the other one. Landing a little harder than he'd hoped, he takes a second to collect himself, then proceeds inside. As expected, the guards are going to take a second to catch up to him.

Reaching out with the Force, he feels where the gems are secured.
"This could be tougher than I expected."
-----------------

Tuskers has to fight off several dozen troops, and some automated defenses along the way, but they present only minor problems.

When Tuskers arrives at the vault, Lord Lenol is standing in front of the door, holding a blaster. "You will not take my prizes."

Tuskers smiles at the Lord, "You should never hand someone a gun unless you're sure where they'll point it." Tuskers uses the Force and pulls the weapon from Lenol's hand, and cuts it in half with his lightsaber. "Now, do you care to open the vault, or should I?"

Lord Lenol stands there staring for a second, then starts punching some buttons calmly. "Why do you want the gems? They are only good to you if you wish to rule the Typhon."

"Ahh. You seek meaning. Then listen to the music, not the song." Tuskers enjoys the mans discomfort. "I'm here to make sure that the balance is served. For I am Grey." Tuskers takes the offered box, not needing to check the contents, as he can feel the two gems inside.

"You will never get away. There are too many guards between here and your ship."

"The Whitestar? Leena left some time ago in the Whitestar."
Tuskers turns, and walks over to a large window and cuts a big hole in it. "Goodbye Lord Lenol, I expect that I'll never hear your name again."

The Sekotan Skiff, Meli, pulls up in front of the window and a hatch appears in the skin of the ship. Tuskers jumps inside, and the ship streaks away, ignoring attempts by fighters to force her down.
---
Meli exits hyperspace, and lands at the Starlight Beach Club about three minutes before the Whitestar, being the faster ship. Tuskers hugs Leena as she exits the Whitestar. "See, safe and sound. And two beautiful gems for my efforts."
