KOTOR II

I'm sick of all these people who are in love with Bioware. For all it's flaws, Obsidian did a great job with KOTOR II. Given enough time, KOTOR II would have out matched the first by a mile. Who does everyone blame for the failure of KOTOR II? Obsidian of course, they made the game. Who SHOULD be blamed for the failure of KOTOR II? Lucas Arts. LA pushed for a Christmas release of KOTOR II, knowing full well it wasn't complete. Obsidian even tried asking LA if they could re-release the game. LA told them "NO, you can't finish the product."

Don't know what was cut from the game? Wookiepedia has a list of what was cut. (link below)

Now, via Kotaku, it's rumored that Bioware is going to make KOTOR III. (link below)

Am I excited to see a new KOTOR game? Yes, I'd be very happy to see one. Even if it's a rumor only? Rumor or not, it shows that Developers are still listening to the gamers' cry for a new KOTOR game. Am I excited to see Bioware making the game? Not exactly. I'd prefer to see Obsidian make it, because they vastly improved what you could do in the game. People always say, when asked what they liked about the first KOTOR, they say they liked the story, and indeed it was better than the second games story. When those same people are asked what they liked about KOTOR II, they say the gameplay was far better than the first, and again, indeed it was.

Bioware is good at telling stories while Obsidian is good with gameplay. What would make KOTOR III perfect is the story by Bioware and the gameplay by Obsidian. As long as LA stays the hell out of the way of the game devs, it should be a great game. I just hope Bioware stays with what Obsidian built with the gameplay, otherwise it will be a step backward in the series.
