In 12 ABY, Darit Tharr, a Jedi at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, was sent on a mission. A band of Imperials were headed for the Unknown Regions, in hope of finding a species that would help them reestablish the Empire. The Jedi had Darit Tharr create a team of agents to go after them. Darit called them Hunter Squadron.

After the mssion, Tal continued Hunter Squadron. They fought during the Yuuzhan Vong War, and are now one of the four battle squadrons of UCOM. And although the members have changed over the years, the motto stayed the same: "Beware. We are hunters. We can outfly you, outfight you, outrun you, and outthink you. You can't beat us, you can't stop us. We are Hunter Squadron."
