Tal Thren: Clone Wars Journal: Part One
I programmed the coordinates in my navigation system. I glanced back at the planet of Coruscant behind me, then entered Hyperspace.
The trip to Coruscant had been almost pointless. When I went, I was expecting splendor and glory. But it wasn't anything like that. There had been a skeleton staff, with a few officers and about ten clones, two of them wounded. The only good point of my trip was meeting Kal Skirata. I played our meeting over in my head.
I stepped into a room that I thought was the registration area, instead, I saw a group of tables with injured soldiers, mostly clones, laying wounded.
"Can I help you?" a young medic asked. He seemed a bit nervous looking at me, with me in my armor and all. But I was used to it.
"I'm looking for Regestration."
"Oh," the medic replied, "It's two doors down."
I nodded to him, and I was about to leave, when a movement caught my eye. A small man, who had been leaning over a wounded soldier, looked at me strangely, then started towards me.
I looked the man over. He wore a plain jacket and pants. He seemed innocent enough. But the way he carried himself, and the hint of metal at the cuff of his boot-a holdout blaster, or a knife-made it obvious that he was a warrior.
"Shall we talk in the hall?" the man asked. Transalation: Get out in the hall. I want to talk.
I obliged him, because I was curious about him.
"What's your name?" the man demanded.
"Tal."
"Do you have a last name?"
"No."
He paused. Then he asked, "Would you mind taking your helmet off?"
I was a bit suprised at that, but I decided to take it off. This man was not planning to kill me.
The man didn't seem suprised that he saw the face of a clone. In fact, he seemed like he had already figured it out. He probably had.
"I'm Kal Skirata," the man said. "I don't think we know each other, but your six brothers have told me about you."
The man went on to explain who he was, how he raised the six Nulls-Ordo, Mereel, Prudii, Jaing, A'den, and Kom'rk.
Then he told me I was not to reveal the fact that I was a clone to anyone. There had been clones that had gone AWOL. He said that most of the people, even the Jedi, were to ignorant to tell the difference between to clones. If I was seen, he said, I might be arrested for running away. Which, technically, I had done.
He then sent me off to help the soldiers on Delstar. One of his commando squads-Chaos Squad-had sent out a call for help. And he also told me to use a last name. I decided on Thren; A mix of my original name, Null Three. And so I had left.
