BCA 05 2008 Sep-Oct Winners
Congratulations to all our winners, and a big thank you to everyone who participated in the fifth Best Collection Awards! That includes all of the entrants, the judges and management committee of the BCA, our generous prize donors, and everyone who voted in the public awards. The winners will be contacted via e-mail or their guestbook on Monday, as we will need a postal address to send your prize to. | Not as easy a decision as it might first appear, the judges noted that J1m had harder-to-obtain signatures on great-looking pack-pulled cards. However, the quality of items autographed, and the larger quantity of autographs, tipped Xaos' entry to the top. | |||

| This turned out to be a tight contest. DJ121 has a fantastic VHS collection, and J1m has an incredible DVD collection, with many uncommon items. But it was the sheer number of items and the variety of formats - even including good ol' Laserdiscs - that won it for Her Imperial Majesty Empress Palpatine. | |||

| Brilliant. You are all just brilliant! This is far and away our best month for Best Recreation. The quality of all entries was very high, and everyone demonstrated both creativity and effort. Xaos' Rancor and DJ121's Ewok capture were appreciated for their humour; J1m's skiff scene and Shadskocha's Special-Edition Jabba palace scene were both fantastic entries which used their figures well, and all those scored very well with the judges, too. But two entries were especially well done - assembled with craftsmanship, photographed well, and evocative. Our judges were simply unable to split them, so they both will get a prize! Darth Revenge and Darth Zekiel, congratulations, you are both worthy winners of this hard-fought award. | |||

| Another well-represented award, and in this case, a clear winner. Most of the custom pieces had been enthusiastically supported by the WOSW voting public, but in the final count Jedi Stephan's LEGO Lamda-class billboard was well ahead. Congratulations, Master Stephan! (NOTE: The scores for the public-judged awards were the "thumbs-up" rating of the entry pictures, as they were at 11:59 PM Tuesday 28th October 2008 American Eastern Daylight Time. In cases where there were multiple pictures for one entry, the highest-rated picture was used to determine the score.) | |||

| I love the Worst (insert SW character name here) Figure contests! I am always blown away by the lack of resemblance. Han Solo's turn turned up three very un-Harrison-Ford-looking entries. I was a big fan of Darth Father's "Big Head" Solo, and J1m's "Hello, I'm Ken from Ken and Barbie, on steroids" Han was also a big hit with the fans. But Xaos' wins - again! - as the fans choose his bizarre cross between Han Solo, a CyberDyne T-1000, Roger Moore and a G.I. Joe-reject. Who designed this thing? I hope they were fired. | |||
