BCA 06 2008 Nov-Dec Winners



WELCOME TO THE SIXTH BEST COLLECTION AWARDS (NOV-DEC 2008)

WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED AND VOTED!

Here are the winners of the Sixth Best Collection Awards for November-December 2008!

BCA6-1 Best Recreation - Darth Revenge
 
"Accurate without being overwhelming", "the detail that revenge put into his diorama is what ultimatly won my vote" and "Too well-done to be topped" were some of the voter comments about Darth Revenge's hanger scene recreation, and it won this category by a few votes. Darth Zekiel's Hoth scene also received many votes but there were kind words for most entries.

BCA6-2 Best Collection - Darth Vilgore
 
"demonstrates a dedication beyond obsession", and "just amazing" - reaction from voters and the BCA committee alike. ThagAndy put up a good fight but there was no stopping the juggernaut of Darth Vilgore's incredibly impressive collection. The good news is, this is a once-in-a-lifetime award, so although Vilgore has the honour of being the first-ever recipient, they cannot enter next year, which leaves it wide open for the rest of us!

BCA6-3 Best Display - Jed1 J1m
 
Darth Revenge and Jed1 J1m were neck-and-neck in voting for this category. In the end, Revenge had just one more vote, but they are disqualified from this category due to winning BCA6-1. Jed1 J1m is a worthy winner, amassing far more votes than the other valid entries. Voters appreciated J1m's arrangement and selection of products in the display, and the quality of their photography.

BCA6-4 Best Holiday Scene - Ali Fett
 
"situated nicely between the blasphemous and the awesome" is how one voter described Ali Fett's scene, and I don't think I can put it better than that! Due to the fantastic number of entries in this category, it was hard-fought, but in the end Ali's manger scene emerged the winner ahead of Darth Revenge, Xaos, Empress Palpatine and DJ121. There was praise for all entries, and I personally would like to commend the entrants on their hard work and dedication.

BCA6-5 Best Star Wars Decorations - Jedi Stephan
 
Voters clearly liked Jedi Stephan's concept of the decorations putting themselves on the tree. As one entrant said, "I wish I had thought of that!" Stephan won this category narrowly, but deservedly, and takes their second BCA award (they won BCA5-4 Best Custom Piece in the last competition.) All the entrants received votes, and there was much appreciation for the holiday spirit that they got into!

BCA6-6 Weirdest Holiday Piece - Empress Palpatine
 
Now technically, since Jedi Stephan won BCA6-5, Empress Palpatine would have won this category by default. Thankfully, no such artifice was necessary because Her Imperial Majesty commanded the vast majority of the votes anyway. No surprise, really, as that ... thing ... is really weird! Bizarre, odd, unusual, confusing, and brilliant! Thank you, Empress, you really have a keen eye for the weirdest Star Wars pieces, as this win and previous competitions have amply demonstrated!


Congratulations to the winners and a huge "thank you" to everyone who entered, and everyone who participated in the public vote - we could not have done this without you!

Another big thank you goes out to our generous prize donors, you have excelled yourselves this time with the fantastic selection of great prizes!

Winners will be contacted, in order, to get their prize choice. Once we know what the first winner has selected, we will contact the next winner, and so on.

Second choice: BCA6-4 Best Holiday Scene
Third choice: BCA6-2 Best Collection
Fourth choice: BCA6-5 Best Star Wars Decorations
Fifth choice: BCA6-3 Best Display

and the winner of BCA6-6 Weirdest Holiday Piece will get whichever prize is left!

So for the best chance to get the prize you want, make sure you enter the BCA6-1 Best Recreation category! You might also want to enter BCA6-4 Best Holiday Scene, BCA6-2 Best Collection and BCA6-5 Best Star Wars Decorations also, to increase your chances of winning an early choice!
