BCA 07 2009 Jan-Feb Winners
Just before we begin with the winners announcement, I would like to say a huge, a massive, an enormous "thank you" to everyone who made this competition so great - the entrants whose creativity and dedication continue to amaze; the voters who help us decide the winners; the committee and judges who create, run and adjudge each contest; and of course our super-generous prize donors who again have given freely to ensure that winning remains materially as well as spiritually rewarding. You are all champions! THE WINNERS BCA7-1 Best Boba Fett Collection Winner: DJ121 A very tough contest between two Boba collections that are both extremely impressive, and a bit similar! How tough? Our judges could not separate J1m and DJ, and so for the first time, a tie-breaking deciding vote was called upon. That vote went to DJ121, and they are our winner. Both entrants can be proud of their efforts to "Represent the Fett" however. BCA7-2 Best Book Collection Winner: Inara Jinn Quantity counts, say our judges! Taking three-qurters of the judges' votes, Inara was a clear winner. While the other entries were appreciated for the quality of their titles and excellent photography, Inara's veritable library of Star Wars books left our judges impressed and jealous. BCA7-3 Best Lightsaber Collection Winner: Jed1 J1m J1m's revenge on DJ (after BCA7-1) was prompt and ruthless! In this contest J1m held all the judges in thrall; his ForceFX and scaled replicas (all by Master Replicas) were too exciting, too expensive, and too shiny to be ignored. J1m walked away with all the votes, and the knowledge that only General Grevious could challenge his lightsaber collection. BCA7-4 Best Scene Recreation: Episode I Winner: Darth Vilgore The public loves Darth Vilgore; we have seen that in previous competitions and again they have held his recreation as being the superior one. There was love also for Max's fight scene and Shads' well-designed pre-race scene, and many compliments for Stephan's dynamic and visually crafty LEGO podrace scene, but Lord Vilgore edged out the other competitors with his composition of Obi-Wan + Gui-Gon + blast door + battledroid debris. BCA7-5 Best Creature Collection Winner: Teebo This category was hard-fought - votes went to many entrants, and it often came down to personal preference about which specific creature was included (or not) that decided who the voter chose. Darth Vilgore gained the most votes but they have already won BCA7-4, so the next highest total takes this category (under our "one win per entrant" rule), and that was Teebo. Congratulations, Teebo; but I have to know, what is that tiny grey creature about an inch below Salacious Crumb? BCA7-6 Worst Obi-Wan Figure Winner: Jedi Stephan Oh yeah, those are some awful Obi-Wan figures! If anyone can see Ewan McGregor or Sir Alec Guinness in those faces, then I want some of what you're smoking. In the end the public chose Jedi Stephan's "Obi-Wan" as the horriblest of the horrible, but honestly, with all the terrible likenesses shown here, I think we're all winners. Congratulations, Stephan!  To get a fair distribution of prizes between the public- and panel-judged awards, we have resurrected our previous prize distribution system. First choice of prize goes to the winner of BCA7-1, second choice goes to the winner of BCA7-4, third choice BCA7-2, fourth BCA7-5, fifth BCA7-3 and the winner of BCA7-6 gets the final prize. So, first panel-judged, then first public-judged, then second panel-judged and so on. BCA7-1 winner DJ121 has chosen the Target Exclusive Biggs Darklighter Mighty Mugg donated by DARTH MYLES. BCA7-4 winner Darth Vilgore has chosen the Limited Edition Revenge of the Sith Mounted Cloth Patch Set donated by Jed1 J1m. BCA7-2 winner Inara Jinn has chosen the Dorling Kindersley Incredible Cross-Sections Book donated by Darth Father. BCA7-5 winner Teebo has chosen the USD$20 StarWarsShop Gift Voucher donated by Darth Dianthus. BCA7-3 winner Jed1 J1m has chosen the Legacy Collection Stass Allie and a Queen Amidala Hallmark Ornament donated by Darth Dianthus. Which means BCA7-6 winner Jedi Stephan will receive the Autographed Yak's Pub "Heimlich Manoeuvre" Poster donated by Darth Vilgore. Most varied and impressive Boba collection wins! Maximum 4 pictures Picture titles MUST begin with "BCA7-1" | BEST BOOK COLLECTION Eagerly anticipated by many collectors! Novels, reference, hard-back and soft-back; in fact, all literature except comics (they will feature in their own award later). The size of your collection is important, but the rarity and uniqueness of the items, and quality of display, are also worth votes. Maximum 4 pictures Picture titles MUST begin with "BCA7-2" | BEST LIGHTSABER COLLECTION For full-size lightsaber versions (Force FX and custom), scaled and full-size replicas (MR and others), and full-size toys. Points are awarded for number of sabers, variety, and quality of each item. Great displays also receive points, as will action shots of the sabers being used! | BEST RECREATION EPISODE I Use your Star Wars figures, props and vehicles, to recreate a scene from Episode I The Phantom Menace (including deleted scenes). Only genuine scenes allowed - no recreations of Qui-Gon decapitating Jar-Jar with his lightsaber! Maximum 4 pictures Picture titles MUST begin with "BCA7-4" | BEST CREATURE COLLECTION For the best collection of "creatures" - unintelligent inhabitants of the Star Wars universe; like wampas, rancors, Krayt dragons, mynocks, kaadus, kybucks, et cetera (but not intelligent races like Jawas or Ewoks). Maximum 4 pictures Picture titles MUST begin with "BCA7-5" | WORST OBI-WAN FIGURE So far we have seen the worst the figure-makers can throw at us regarding Han Solo and Leia likenesses. Now it is time to see how badly they can mess up Obi-Wan - either the Ewan McGregor or Alec Guinness version. Show us the Obi-Wan figures that completely fail to resemble either actor!
