BCA10 WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT

WELCOME TO THE TENTH BEST COLLECTION AWARDS FOR AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2009

WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT

In one of the more highly-contested competitions of late, we had 16 quality entries from 11 entrants, five of whom were first-timers! It was a fantastic effort all-round from our entrants, and we would like to acknowledge them all for the time and effort they put into their entries.

Our tenth competition is also the first to have official sponsors on board - Brian's Toys, Kevin Anderson and Rebecca Moesta will be donating prizes to our lucky winners! The BCA Committee would like to thank our sponsors for supporting the Best Collection Awards, for their generous prize donations, and for supporting the wider Star Wars fan community in general. For more details about our new sponsors, visit our Sponsor Information post or see the Credits section at the bottom of this page.

BCA10-1 Best R2-D2 Collection - The blue-and-white astrodroid demonstrates his enduring popularity with the fans! Kirby Light's entry was very cute (Momma R2, four R2 children and a little baby R2, aww!), Empress Palpatine's entry had some great rare pieces, and the size and quantity of Planet Rios' collection left us gob-smacked.

BCA10-2 Best Videogame Collection - Video gaming and Star Wars, a match made in heaven for sure. Qui Gon Jinn, SHADOWTECH and Morning Light all had some great games from past and present, and one wonders if Darth LeBeau has had the time to do anything else but play Star Wars games, such is the breadth of their collection!

BCA10-3 Best Recreation Episode IV - Again this time our entrants have excelled with their dioramas. We had incredibly accurate reproductions of actual movie frames by DJ121, Jed1_J1m and Morning Light, and two differently-lit but amazingly well-crafted Cantina scene recreations by Planet Rios and Pryto. Impressive. Most impressive. This was a hard category for the judges to decide upon, with all entries deserving of high praise.

BCA10-4 Worst Boba Fett Figure - If it weren't for the Mandalorian armor, you'd be hard-pressed to identify some of these figures as being Boba Fett. Truly awful reproductions of our favourite bounty-hunter were provided by all four entrants, and the judges could not split the entries, necessitating the casting of a deciding vote which was a difficult task. In the end, one of these figures should have been done well, and the fact that it was not is what makes it the worst.

The heartiest of congratulations to our winners:

BEST R2-D2 COLLECTION

Anything and everything related to or displaying R2-D2 (and not other astrodroids; yes, we all love R4 and R2-KT but this contest is only for the blue-and-white hero of the films.) Figures, books and comics, posters, and so on, are all good places to start. Most varied and impressive R2-D2 collection wins!

Maximum 4 pictures - Picture titles MUST begin with "bca10-1"
BEST VIDEOGAME COLLECTION

We are looking for the biggest and most varied Star Wars videogame collection. Includes PC and Mac games, console games (from any era), even arcade cabinets if you have any! It must be an official Star Wars game and it must be played on a screen, monitor or TV. Only genuine versions, no copies!

Maximum 4 pictures - Picture titles MUST begin with "bca10-2"
BEST RECREATION EPISODE IV

Use your Star Wars figures, props and vehicles, to recreate a scene from Episode IV A New Hope (including deleted scenes). Only real scenes that were actually filmed are allowed.

Maximum 4 pictures - Picture titles MUST begin with "bca10-3"
WORST BOBA FETT FIGURE

Already we have seen the worst Anakin, Han Solo, Leia, Luke and Obi-Wan figures. Now it is time for everyone's favourite bounty hunter! Show us the least realistic figure of Boba ever made - either of the young (Daniel Logan) or older (Jeremy Bulloch) Boba, with or without his helmet.

Maximum 4 pictures - Picture titles MUST begin with "bca10-4"
