I was just 5 yrs old in 1978 when I visited a local towne 3 theater cinema that served popcorn, candy, soda, and allowed smoking inside the theater. I recall the movie's tempo started off slowly and I began losing interest. I tried my best to keep my puppy dog-like attention span on the movie when the monster grabbed Luke in the trash compartment. It was from that moment on I was without a doubt intrigued & hooked for life. Luke was my hero instantly, the true underdog fighting against all odds to do what he felt he should do. I was mystified by its magic and its familiar strangeness that electrified my imagination. I wanted to be Luke.
