Dear Yahoo user,
As a result of the tremendous amount of mail received in the past month requesting information as to the status of the Yahoo service titled "World of Star Wars", we have opted to break standing company policy of not commenting on ongoing work and answer some of the questions asked of us.
Question 1:
Where's Y2-D2? Where'd he go?
The staff member known as Y2-D2 is no longer with the Yahoo business. After reading through various complaints filed during his employee, it was discovered that he was in fact doing very little and was not properly overseeing his own staff. In short, he proved to be/have a bad motivator.
Question 2:
I've been playing with the role-playing forums and realized that my character has fallen in love with a character from an enemy alignment. The other member and I have decided to leave both of our groups behind. Could you make a new alignment option for us?
While we encourage involvement of all sorts among our users, Yahoo does not endorse romantic affiliations between them. Such relationships almost certainly lead to foolish decisions and members giving up their ability to think for themselves and simply following one another. As to which member (the leader or the follower) is the more foolish we are not yet sure. We are currently conducting a survey to determine this answer and will get back to you.
Question 3:
I've been a member of World of Star Wars for over a week now, and I have to tell you, I LUV IT!
We know.
Question 3 (continued):
But I've been having a lot of trouble uploading both images and videos. Do you have any advice for me?
First, we ask for your patience. We know that various bugs and glitches have been in the system for some time, making it difficult for many members to do even the simplest of tasks. When your uploading doesn't work on the first try, try again. If you are still having trouble on your 10th try, we suggest a change of tactics. When patience doesn't work, we suggest being more rough with the system. Push buttons hard and repeatedly. Be insistent. In time you may find, as we have, that force can do much, so in lieu of wishing you "good luck" we'll instead hope that force will be with you.
Question 4:
I've been a member of the site for nearly 30 minutes now and am only at level 5! Why?! How do I move up in levels?!
Thank you for your interest in the site. Unfortunately, due to a new corporate policy, those who ask questions like yours are prohibited from increasing in rank or level. For what it's worth, however, level 5 is a perfectly fine level. Many of our staff members have been unable to pass beyond level 3. Judge us by our level do you?
Question 5:
I've decided that your absence and silence to members of "The World of Star Wars" should be taken as a dare to hack into the site and take it over. Do you have a problem with my trying this?
Naturally, the employees of Yahoo cannot and will not condone nor encourage such behavior and must warn you that such an attempt will result in stiff penalties and legal prosecution. Should that not be reason enough to cease your intention, we must warn you that all attempts made against our server and threats of such attempts are taken very seriously. As you read this message, local authorities are speeding to your residence and will arrive in less than 5 minutes. If you are insistent on taking this action, you must be warned: Do or do not, we do not forgive "tries".
Thank you for your time and interest. If you have any more questions or suggestions in the future, feel free to keep them to yourself.
Sincerely,
A1-O8

I almost thought, for just a moment, that we had finally gotten some response. Then I looked at the date. If only, if only...
