As a child, Magnus was left for dead when his village was destroyed during a melee between 2 rogue Sith groups. Surprised that Magnus' critical wounds did not kill him outright, an unknown Sith Lady took him and trained him to be her apprentice, and he was given the name Darth Crow. The ways of the force, especially the dark side, molded Crow to be a strong sith; however it was not enough to prevent Crow from harboring feelings of love for his master. Sensing the strange and unnatural feeling of love, Crow's master challenged her apprentice to one final duel. Against Crow's wishes, he was forced to fight the only person he loved (and he believes that deep within, his master loves him too), using form 3 soresu to defend himself against his master's aggresive form 4 ataru. Both of them were wounded in the process, but as the duel dragged on, Crow noticed that he was getting stronger, and his strength was coming from his master's wounds. Realizing his true power, he buries his feelings deep within, and mortally wounds his master and leaves her for dead.

Realizing that a defensive soresu stance will not suffice, he is believed to have made and mastered a variant of Soresu, incorporating form 2 Makashi with it. Thus, whether against a single foe or multiple enemies, whether engaged in a short scuffle or a long, drawn out battle, Darth Crow grows in strength for every minute he stays in battle, and for every foe he kills.
