It really is a small galaxy!
For the last few months or so, I have been considering joining the 501st Legion, which as you all know is the fan club that focuses on costuming and volunteer work. Well, at the bank that I work for, there is a community service award they give out to someone each month and they put a short article on the company's Intranet about it. For January 2008, the recipient just happened to be the Commanding Officer (CO) of what would be my local Garrison (i.e. Garrison Carida)! Who would have ever guessed we worked for the same company! So, I thought to myself, "Wow! How convienent! I need to contact this guy!"
And wait, it gets better...
As it turns out, his current position requires him to travel around the region quite a bit. Well, today, I found out that, not only was the CO going to be in town, but his rotation brought him to MY DEPARTMENT! How sweet is that timing!? He actually did his rotation a few cubicles away from mine (and of course it took my dumb a** the entire day to figure that out)!
So, at the end of the day, we agreed to meet next week to have a quick Q & A so I can gather more information about joining the 501st Legion. During our brief encounter, he couldn't have possibly been more friendly. He seemed genuinely happy and excited to help me out any way he could. What an awesome experience! It made my entire day! No...WEEK!
So, I ask you: was all this a coincidence...or the Will of the Force?

Well, I just met with the Garrison's CO for about 2 hours, and...wow! Did he ever sell the 501st! I was so excited just listening to him and his stories that I wish I could join right now! However, the financial logistics may not make that a possibility...at least not in the near future. But, I still have a lot to think about and haven't completely ruled out the possibility...
