Here's one for the little guys (Vol. 2)

I know that I usually don't offer anything good or unique on my page, but I figured, hey, if someone can learn a little bit about some of the lesser-known background characters from the Star Wars universe, then maybe I've done something. So, here is the second (of perhaps many) tributes to the bit-players in our wonderful galaxy far, far away...

MALAKILI (a.k.a. The Rancor Keeper)

Malakili was a Human from Corellia, servant of the Hutt gangster Jabba Desilijic Tiure on Tatooine. Malakili took care of Jabba's rancor.

Malakili was sold to Jabba by the Circus Horrificus after an incident in which an arqet got loose and killed twelve audience members on Nar Shaddaa. He was mild-mannered and friendly with many of Jabba's crowd, such as Porcellus and J'Quille. He viewed the rancor as a kindhearted creature and a friend. At one point, the bloodthirsty gamblers demanded more violence. So Jabba ordered Malakili to train the rancor for battle, and had a special weapon harness built. Malakili fitted the rancor with the weapons harness and entered the dangerous "Demolition" games. Malakili forged a close bond with the creature, such that the rancor would allow Malakili to treat its wounds and eat meals with it.

Some time during his time on Tatooine, Malakili killed a giant mutated womp rat that had taken over a cave owned by Tusken Raiders, and got a gaderffii stick as a gift from them.

He was planning on betraying Jabba to Lady Valarian and leaving with the rancor because Jabba planned on pitting it against a Krayt dragon, which would surely kill it. He even hid a camera for her in Jabba's throne room. When Gonar threatened to blackmail Malakili with evidence of the planned betrayal, Malakili murdered him and fed the body to the rancor.

When the rancor was killed by Luke Skywalker, he could be seen to weep painfully. After Jabba's death at the Great Pit of Carkoon, Malakili broke Porcellus the cook out of Jabba's dungeon and they went on to found a restaurant in Mos Eisley called the Crystal Moon Restaurant.

Behind the scenes: Malakili was first seen in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and portrayed by actor Paul Brooke. He was voiced by Jess Harnell in the video game Star Wars: Demolition released in November 2000. His backstory was provided in Tales from Jabba's Palace in the short story A Boy and His Monster: The Rancor Keeper's Tale, by Kevin J. Anderson, as well as brief appearances in 3 other short stories Taster's Choice: The Tale of Jabba's Chef by Barbara Hambly, Let us Prey: The Whiphid's Tale by Marina Fitch and Mark Budz, and And Then There Were Some: The Gamorrean Guard's Tale by William F. Wu, all published in January 1996 by Bantam Spectra. Other appearances include the comic Star Wars Republic: Emissaries to Malastare and the video game Star Wars Galaxies.

If I could marry glitches, I would! I love them so much!

So much for formatting. Everything I would edit this blog, or just re-visit my page, all the formatting would go away. I re-did this like 6 times, but now I'm sick of it. So, sorry this looks a bit worse than my last one...
