Prologue-*completely AU so don't gripe*

(Petra had divorced Obi-Wan. Permanently, it seemed to her. She hated herself sometimes; especially when she let her feelings for Chakotay get the best of her. After the divorce finalized, she realized how little she really did love Chakotay. It all changed though, when she met a former Jedi Master, Brandon, at the Jedi Academy; one of the rescued Jedi refugees she helped on Coruscant. They fell in love, or at least it seemed that way to her. They became close before she found out what he really was: a Sith infiltrator. Luke, Mara, and Obi-Wan sensed it and stopped him before he got her to marry him; he disappeared and they didn't see him again until after Obi-Wan and Petra got married and went back to Earth. Brandon tracked them back to Earth and cornered Petra, Obi-Wan, Chakotay, and Kathryn Janeway, Chakotay's wife. Petra gave herself up to Brandon in the hopes that she could maybe get him away from the Sith influence and redeem him, but chakotay fired at him with his phaser and nearly killed him. Petra used the Force to heal him and she convinced him to return to teh light side of the Force. He, Kara, and Petra had been injected with an aggressive Sith virus, that attacked the midichlorians. Petra didn't know that Brandon had it until it was too late. Brandon gave her and Kara the antidote that he had been using, but little did Petra know that her dose had a drug that made her obedient to Brandon. Brandon gave the antidote to Harry and then left for the garden. Obi-Wan went after Brandon to try to find out what happened when Petra appeared in the garden. Brandon told Petra that he was dying with the virus as the cause, and he died with Petra by him. She, and everyone else, thought he was dead, but in reality, when she left the garden with obi-Wan, he left, leaving his robe and lightsaber behind. Petra was later confronted in teh garden by Darkin, Brandon's Sith master, and nearly turned to teh dark side, had it not been for Obi-Wan's intervention by giving her amnesia and wiping some of her memories. Brandon's specter had visited the Kenobis on several different occasions, seemingly offering help. Obi-Wan called to him and he appeared to obi-wan in medical where Petra was recovering. He revealed to Obi-Wan that he couldn't help in the garden because he was under orders from Darkin to stay out of the matter. He also revealed to Obi-Wan his true identity and that he really had just manipulated Petra. Obi-wan dismissed him in anger and took Petra back to naboo. Brandon's specter tried to inhabit Harry's body, and each time it tried, Petra had a nightmare about it and alerted everyone around her. harry let the specter inhabit him once and severed teh link between Brandon and Petra; her nightmares ceased, Brandon disappeared, and her memories were restored. when she went back to Earth to try to get her position back at Starfleet Medical, she found out she had been expected not to return to duty and had replaced by Seven of Nine. This just seemed to cement the decision she was contemplating in her mind: resigning permanently. She resigned as a full Commander and took her kids and parents back to Naboo. Her father died two weeks later from a heart attack. She later found out the truth that Brandon really hadn't died.

She was a Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan was her master. Obi-Wan was becoming very aware of her increasing powers and skill; she matched him in power and lightsaber skill. He asked Luke to duel Petra to test her. Luke complied and confronted Petra; she matched him in everything,but when Luke sent her images and memories of Brandon, the divorce, and how much she thought she was in love with him, she hesitated and faltered. Luke left Petra on teh sparring grounds to think about her struggles with Brandon's memory. Brandon approached her from behind, grabbed her, and injected her with teh virus that temporarily paraylzed her arm and made her weaker in the Force. Obi-WAn took her back to earth to see if the Doctor could repair her arm and he could and did.
