Episode I I/2 The Phantom Collectibles

Star Wars was everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Chips, soda, chairs, Hallmark, toys, TV ads, MTV, coffee mugs. IT was overwhelming. I had just begaun seriously collecting Star Wars not 2 or 3 years earlier, and wanted very badly to be a completist but had never had the money to do so. Between Star Wars stuff, Dragon Dice, Spellfire, Magic the Gathering, D&D stuff, and my girlfriend I never had enough money to get it all. Then the market was flooded. To this day, I am still trying to get all items with Darth Maul on them, and every time I search EBAY new items appear. I was one soda can away fom the complete set. I had all of the chip bags. I missed only one of the Taco Bell/PizzaHut/KFC cup characters. I had most of the Young Jedi CCG cards. But I have never completed any of them. Now My collection is much more focused (Darth Maul and Force Unleashed only.) So although it was overpowering, I do miss the fact that it was a time where Star Wars was everywhere.

  1. You had a girl friend! Kidding...it is your fault...YOUR FAULT I am the way I am...thanks! Geez, I remember you collecting this stuff too. Made me drink as much soda as I could hold lol. Those were some of the happiest years of my childhood and you are a fantastic and inspiring big brother! *HUGS

  2. Good to see you have found some direction in your life!(LOL) Intersting blog you have and your pictures are fantastic in your profile.
I only collect what I like and have given up on being a completionist of anything Star Wars. There just is too much stuff out there! Darth Maul is a very cool character and I would agree that I do miss seeing Star Wars everywhere. Sometimes referces are made on Fox news or you'll here someone in passing say something but the era I was born in is gone but I hope that the popularity of Star Wars never fades. I would like to see another Star Wars live action trilogy in the next decade to keep the interst alive and to generate new fans!
