Actually some of you did know ;) Thank you all! xoxo Dragon Cave Trial Aeron's ship landed on Zonama Sekot. She had seen the shipyards with Tuskers a couple days back. He had given her the grand tour. She powered the systems down and turned to Wibbly, her droid, "Listen, no idea how long I'm gone, but you gonna watch after Mister Smith and make sure he has water and food. Understood? Otherwise I might reconsider this promised oil bath." "Why of course, Mistress, I take care of Mister Smith," he whined. "I know, Wib, I know. I'm teasing," she said kindly. The droid made an equivalent of a helpless shrug. Aeron walked back into the kitchen area and fixed up herself a food package with some water. She put it all into a rucksack together with other equipment. "Mistress, take care and take a comm. with you." Wibbly said with concern. "I'm always careful, you know me," and with that Aeron secured the blaster and her new lightsaber on her belt and put an extendable cortosis staff into the bag. "Don't do any foolish thing, Wib. See you." Aeron shouldered her rucksack and walked off. She closed the boarding ramp behind her and locked the ship. She looked around, felt into the Force and let it guide her toward the Dragon Cave. She hadn't an idea what would be waiting for her, what she will find. She supposed this trial was more of a surviving training than anything else. The surrounding was humming with life, birds were singing up in the trees, hidden by the leaves and blossoms. Aeron avoided the settlements of the native Ferroans and the Langhesi. Not that she wouldn't be curious about how they lived and what they looked like but it was not her task and would just lead to distraction. For hours she walked through the dimness of the forest. As it starts to grow darker she decides to build up a small camp for the night. Aeron looks for the right place, a small clearing in the under wood. She picked up stones she found around it to set up a fireplace and then quickly built up the tent. Darkness enveloped her soon, the sunset not strong enough to break through the leave canopy. Aeron ate a bite or two from her rations, stored safely into the rucksack. Then she decided to mediate. She crawled into the tent and made herself comfortable. Her eyes closed and she surrendered herself to the whispers of the Force. The sensation was overwhelming. Zonama Sekot was bursting from life and not just the animals and plants but also the planet or moon itself. She had heard that it was supposed to have a conscious on its own. It was able to appear in any form it pleases and talk with the Ferroans or whomever. From her studies she also knew about the Yuuzhan Vong on the planet. She was glad that she didn't got close to one of their settlements. She wasn't very sure how they would have reacted to her. She knew from Jade that the Yuuzhan Vong has sent a female to threaten the Grey to retreat from Zonama Sekot. Aeron didn't sleep, just mediated though was refreshed in the morning. She backed up her belongings and started to climb up the mountain. Up there somewhere should be the Dragon Cave she had read about. The morning sun was burning down on her without mercy. The woman decided it was best to stop and wrap a tissue around her head, to protect her a bit. She drank some of the water and then continued her journey up. She allowed the Force to be her guide, not relying on maps in which the cave isn't marked anyway. A whisper in the Force told her that she was nearing her destination. Just moments later her eyes could make out the dark whole in the massif of the mountain. With determined steps she approached it. Aeron pulled out a torch before she actually entered it. Right away she was surrounded by the cool air of the cave, the sun had no chance to warm it up. With every step she took it grow darker and soon the entrance was so far away that she couldn't even make out the light anymore. She let the Force be her guide, not knowing what she will find in the end of the labyrinth. Darkness was surrounding her. She had lost the torch as she stumbled over a stone she had overlooked. A cold brush she felt against her skin. She shivered. Aeron didn't know how long she was wandering through the cave already. She thought she could make out some figures in the distance even through the darkness. Aeron took some steps toward it, curious what it is. 'There couldn't be really someone in here, could there? ' It was a man in a suit, short hair which was a bit tousled. Behind him was a woman who's face spoke of the pleasure she felt being pulled against the man. His hand were on her body, caressing. Aeron only took a moment to recognize herself, a much younger self. Her hair was longer, like she had it during her time as a pilot. It wasn't all too hard to guess who the man was then. His far too familiar voice sliced through the silence, "I love your smooth skin, promise me never to let scars damage that. You're so beautiful." His voice held so much love and caring and still it was kind of an insult to her ears. She noticed the dreamy eyes her younger self had, whispering, "I promise you, love." "I wouldn't like you covered with scars." Aeron felt how rage and disappointment rose in her. Rage on herself that she would be so stupid to agree on such thing and disappointment that he could ask something like that of her and say such words. She had always envied her former self, who she had been. After the Empire there were only shards left. Her skin showed the marks of what had happened. Over the months of recovery and being trained by Krop'tor she learned how to hide the scars perfectly. Another figure appeared, walking toward her. A sneer graced his lips. Aeron recognized it as Starkiller. "Why do you let pretty face tell you such things?" he taunted. He stepped besides her and slung his arm around her shoulders. His other hand came up and scratched over the skin on her left cheek. There was a fine layer of synthskin covering up some of the damage done there. He peeled it away and laughed. "Why are you hiding who you are, silly girl? For those or yourself?" His eyes went back to the young Aeron and the guy wrapped around her, whispering pleasant nothings. "You know anyway should they know what you have done they'd never forgive you. Have you actually told your FRIENDS that you are charged for genocide? That you went to kill Tuskers? The crimes you have done as Bounty Hunter? The heartlessness you have shown?" Aeron tried to escape his hold but didn't manage. She felt helpless. Everything mentioned was something she hated herself for. But learned to life with. The truth was that she didn't know if her friends would accept her if they should ever find out. Starkiller waved with the hand which just had been on her face. The figure of Acheron appeared before her. His face was a grotesque mask, an evil grin on his lips. The not seeing eyes were cold and hard. "It is a shame that you were ever accepted in the order, you're a disgrace. A grotesque farce. I spat on you. All you did was deceiving to gain what you wanted." Each single word was like a slap. Aeron and Acheron had grown close in a short time. A tear slipped out and trickled down her check. She could feel the liquid searching its way to the edge of her jaw where it then dropped. "Oh poor little girl, now she cries. Come on, strike him down the sorry excuse of not even a human being. You feel way better then. Give into your anger and hatred." Aeron shook her head. "No? Mhh?" he made and waves his hand again. The image of Ashlar misted out of the darkness. He also had a hideous face, painted with disgust and revulsion. "I once told you that your fighting tells me everything about you, it only tells me that you're a snake in the grass. You're lying and false. You're fighting dirty and so you treat everyone. I wish I'd never met you, I despise that day." It was Starkiller who spoke up right afterwards, "Little puppy thinks you fight dirty, sweetie, didn't he hear yet that every advantage is to be used? Better be a snake then the frog eaten by it. Better lying and false then honest and dead. Why do you allow him to talk like that with you. Just one licker and he is history. I can feel that you just want to do that." He hands her his lightsaber. "There you can even use mine." Aeron shook her head, fighting against more tears. It hurt. "So the puppy wasn't it either, maybe..." again he waved with his hand. Feonix appeared out of nowhere. Her features disfigured in fury. "Traitorous witch. Burn you should on a stack for your crimes. Sneaking and charming into our trust, for trying to betray us. You never have been a Grey nor will you ever be. Your skills are a joke and your knowledge pitiful. That you fail was always clear and so certain like the sunrise." "Didn't she say that beautifully, I'm sure some nice Force lightening for her charming butt might be very skilfully used. Let it be her sunshine. Just dip into your anger and blow." Aeron watched one friend after another appearing and telling her into the face what mean and evil person she is, how much they despise her. In between Starkiller was taunting her just to give in into the anger and join his side. At some point Aeron fell on her knees, her body shaking from the strain. She whispers to herself, "I'm the torch in the darkness, the dimness in the light, the wielder of flame and nightfall, a guardian of balance. I have love to conquer hate, joy and happiness to hold up grieve and sadness. Forgiveness wields rage, and bravery balance out cowardice. I bring destruction to those overbuilding and peace to those at war. I'm Grey, I stay between light and darkness - in the shadow of both." She got up onto her feet, feeling the weakness of her limps. She didn't know how long she had been in a sitting position. "I'll not stumble, I'll go my way." Aeron channelled the Force through her, strengthen her. She noticed how her body started to glow slightly, bringing light into the darkness. And the figures where gone. She was alone. She didn?t really understand what just happened, she only knew that it had hurt. Though she also knew that those were her friends, her brothers and sisters. It must have been some kind of vision, a test. She called with the Force the lost torch into her hand. After a couple of moments the cold metal hilt touched her skin, causing a shiver. Her fingers closed around it and she activates it. A bright cone of light sliced through the dimness. It was too bright for her eyes which were tired due to seeing in absolute darkness. She shone the cone into another direction to allow her eyes to adjust slowly. Suddenly she notices a blue hue in front of her. It had the form of a human female, she resembled her and looked a bit younger then Aeron actually was. "Hello Cassie," it said. Aeron nearly jumped, "What by the nine Corellian hells?!" "Do you prefer Aeron?" the blue form asked. "I've noticed you go by this name those days." "Who are you?" Aeron looked for the first time into the hue's face, if it could be called face to start with. Long, slight wavy hair, framed a face that resembled her own. "You know who I am, daughter of mine." Aeron stumbles one or two steps back, "Mum? Mum?" "Yes, Cassie." "How...?" "Zonama Sekot is a very interesting place, Cassie. It focuses so much on the Force that you nearly can call it a nexus. It makes it easy to talk with you, much easier than to appear on a place like - mhh - let's say Typhon for example. Why I come here to talk with you, Cassie, you've to find out about your family. Child, please talk with your father." Aeron looks surprised, "Father? He died, like you did, mum." The word 'Mum' came rather difficult over her lips. "I'd know if he dared to do that, Cassie. He is very alive and ... he didn't tell you? Oh, I'm sorry then. I thought-" Aeron's mum trailed off. "What did you think, mum?" "I thought he has let you into his charade, obviously not. I'm not going to tell you. Trust into the Force and you'll find out yourself." "And there I thought Ash was confusing with his hints and not sayings," Aeron shrugs. "Why are you calling me-", she interrupts herself. "Lady Cassandra O'Brien." "Your intuition gives you a good insight that is your name. Your home planet is Typhon Eta. And yes, you're a Lady there." The force ghost looks at her. "Krop set up that name for me, it was one of the first-," realisation dawned in her. "My time is limited, my dear. Let me tell you that I'm proud of you, take care my little Cassie. I love you." With that the ghost vanished and Aeron stared at the spot where it just had been. Tears started to trickle down her face and she couldn't help herself. Her mother ... and her father was still somewhere alive. Joy filled her heart, giving her new strength. She wipes away her tears. Her whole body straightened and she looked for her equipment. Quickly she gathered it and strapped the rucksack onto her back. The exhaustion she had felt earlier was forgotten and with long strides she marched out of the cave. The way out of the underground labyrinth seemed not to be as long as it took her to walk in. As she reached the surface of the mountain's slope again the sun was standing high in the sky. 'How much time did actually pass? ' She was tempted to comm. Wibbly to ask him but decided against it. The sun felt good on her skin and filled her with warmth she didn't know had missed. With secure steps she climbed down the mountain and as the sun starts to set she had reached the clearing where she had set up her first camp. The stones still formed the fireplace. With skilled moves the tent was set up again. She didn't feel hungry though she forced one of the ration bars down her throat. Now resting the overuse and lack of sleep over the last hours finally caught up with her. She crawled into the tent and before she really settled she was asleep. On the next morning Aeron woke with the first birds singing. Usually plagued with nightmares she had slept through the night without waking. 'That's a first in a long time, ' she thought. The tent vanished with a few handholds while she chewed on a ration bar. She made sure the fire was out and that she hadn't left any waste. Then she continued her way back to the shipyard she started her journey. The sun was about to set as she finally reached the yard. She walked toward her elegant little freighter and keyed in the access code. The ramp lowered itself and she stepped it up, "Wib?" she called. "Mistress," came the immediate answer. The droid shuffled around the corner, carrying a food try for Mister Smith. As his optical sensors set on her he let it drop. "Wib, be careful," Aeron scowled at him. "Mistress, you look like a ghost, not like yourself. I was shocked at least to say. You've been gone for a while. And that way you look, your skin..." "Wait, a while?" Aeron dropped her rucksack and headed toward her cabin, shocked about the revelation. "Wib, clean that up. Being gone a while calls for a shower and some catch up sleep," she said over her shoulder and vanished in her cabin. "Oh and Wib," she added, "bring us back now." |
