Nomads of the Desert
 the mystery people from the deserts of Tatooine, the Tusken Raider are an ancient race, who at one point possessed advanced technology and were a major power in the known universe  Desert Warriors, the Raiders are easily startled, but will return in greater numbers, mostly active at night  the technologically advanced race called the Rakata, conquered the Tuskens, mined Tatooine exhaustively, and bombarded the planet turning it into a desert world. The Tusken race survived by hiding in a system of artificial caverns, but were also trapped and isolated there  The Tusken Raiders occasionally enjoyed firing upon podracers who participated in the Boonta Eve Races, as a sort of sport and show of marksmanship  When a Tusken Raider receives a Bantha, they form a life-long bond; when one of the two dies, the other is exiled to the desert to die  Sand People spoke a guttural language known as Tusken. Many individual names are long and marked by numerous stops, such as Grk'Urr'Akk, Grk'kkrs'arr, Orr'Agg'Rorr Orrh Or'Ur and Orr'UrRuuR'R...  Tusken Raiders are named after Fort Tusken, an early Old Republic mining settlement in which all of the settlers were overwhelmed and captured or killed by Tusken Raiders, then referred to as Sand People. |
