First of all, I hope all of you will read this because this is my first time of putting my whole history of my fanship of Star Wars.


First, I saw Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back when I was 5 years old, year 1998. My mother introduced me to the franchise Star Wars and said to me that the movies are good to be watched at. I begin to buy figures of Star Wars, especially the X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and Stormtrooper toys. And on the year 1999, the year when The Phantom Menace was set to the silver screen, I was certainly happy to see another Star Wars movie. Seriously, The Phantom Menace was the 2nd Star Wars movie I ever watched.


On the year 2002, I was already 9 years old, I begun to search the internet for the updates of Star Wars. And that was the year when I got my first Hyperspace account in StarWars.com. I was very happy about it. When I heard about Attack of the Clones, I begun to save my money for the movie. After watching AotC, I was beginning to think that having a Clone costume will be worth buying for, but my father didn't agree with me, only my mother. My mother was also a fan of Star Wars. So, I didn't get my Clone costume this year 2002. On this year (still 2002), I only got a chance to buy the Trilogy Pack in VideoCity, it was a VideoCD, not DVD. I bought it for 799.99 pesos. Then after a couple of months, I bought The Phantom Menace for 250 pesos in AstroVision, it's original.

On the year 2004, I've bought Attack of the Clones for 250 pesos in AstroVision. Also in this year I got my PlayStation 2 unit, I first handedly picked Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Star Wars Clone Wars, and my most favorite of all SW games was Star Wars Battlefront. And while searching the internet for updates, I heard that Revenge of the Sith will be in theaters on May 19, 2005. I was excited about the news. And when I had my vacation in Quezon City, Manila, I lived with my auntie. My aunt was also a fan of Star Wars and was an old member of the 501st Legion, I was shocked when she told me that I can join the 501st at the age of 11 (my age of 2004). The 501st would only accept 18 years old and above, but Manny Mendoza, the CO of the 501st in Cebu and a very close friend of my auntie, still agreed the proposal of my aunt that I could join the 501st. It was a great moment that year, I was the youngest in the 501st Legion Garrison in the Philippines.

On the year 2005, which was the best year of my entire life. It was the year of Revenge of the Sith movie was shown in the theaters. I bought the game Revenge of the Sith before the movie. I watched Revenge of the Sith in Ayala Center Cebu on May 19, 2008, you read it right! The first day and show of Revenge of the Sith. I was thrilled when I saw Obi-Wan and Anakin fought in Mustafar. But still, excited to see the transformation of Anakin to Darth Vader. This event was the best of all events I have ever encountered. Also in this year, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was released. I personally bought the game from the StarWars.com Shop.

2007, the most sorrowful year for me. I was very jealous of the other fans to have a complete collection of the Star Wars franchise. And I begun to lose all my hope of fanship in this Star Wars franchise. My friend, also a fan of Star Wars, said to me that if you don't have a complete collection, you're not a TRUE fan of any franchise. I believed him at that time and I lost my fanship of Star Wars and begun to go for another fanship, which was the Alien Vs. Predator franchise. I had putted my posters, CDs, DVDs, and all my Star Wars item in one big box and replaced the posters in my room with the AVP posters. I also had stopped visiting StarWars.com, Hyperspace, and been absent of the current activities of the 501st Philippine Garrison.

This year, 2008, was the revival of my fanship to Star Wars (being active again with the 501st and replacing my AVP with my Star Wars again.), I have realized on a couple of months that being a fan doesn't mean that you have to buy all the items of Star Wars and have a big collection of it, but being a fan means that you really love the thing you ever idolized. Knowing when it was created, its history, its story, life of the characters, and knowledge of all the franchise is the true meaning of a fan. If you really love the franchise, then you must do anything to know about it, and also if you want to known as a fan, you must know the aspect of its franchise, not just merely buy the items, but understanding its aspect. And also, this current year, I was pretty amazed with Star Wars The Force Unleashed to be more adept in the gaming history of Star Wars, having its physics engine improved in many ways.


I had to come back to my true fanship of all, Star Wars.
