The story of Ben Keto: Escape
Coruscant, Galactic City, near Galactic City Spaceport
Ben and Alice had been running down the walkways for a good while now. Of course, they were very careful, avoiding civillains. Luckily, it was still early enough that not many people were out yet. They ducked into a nearby alley to rest for a bit. Ben pulled out his datapad, and began to type something into it. Alice looked over his shoulder as he typed.
"What are you looking for?" She asked curiously.
Without looking up, Ben replied.
"I'm pulling up a map of the Galactic City, more specifically where we are now. We need to get to the spaceport, so I'm figuring how far away we are."
Alice nodded, her blue eyes looking almost admirable for a moment.
"Oh, alright. How far away are we exactly?" She asked him.
Ben looked at the map for a minute, and then said.
"Looks like we're pretty close right now, not very far. Just a bit further." He poked his head out of the alleyway, spotting the spaceport right ahead. "There it is, but now we have to get there unnoticed, find a ship, and somehow find a place to go. And that's only if we escape."
Alice chuckled and said, "Sounds like a plan to me, and I have an idea as to where we can go if we manage to escape."
Ben turned back to look at her. "Where?"
"It turns out that I have an old family friend that can help us out. She lives on Dantooine, and sent me a private comm last night. She wants to help me, and if we can get outta here, we can find her there." She smiled, looking hopeful.
Ben smiled too, and turned back toward the alley's entrance.
"That's great! Now, how do you propose we get a ship?"
She mock-glared at him for a moment, then thought.
"We either hire someone-no, we are 'traitors'." She said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "No one would take a Jedi anywhere right now. It looks like we're going to have trick someone, be clever. We are stealing a ship." She said, with an almost proud grin on her face.
Ben spun to face her.
"Alright then, I assume we'll need a distraction?" He said a sly grin.
"Yes, we will need that. I think you should provide it, look for someone unsuspecting. Or there may just be a ship with no one around it...we'll see."
She moved up to the alley's entrance, standing next to Ben quietly.
Ben scanned the busy port ahead of them, and suddenly something caught his eye. It was a YT-1000 freighter.
"I think we found our way off this planet." He murmured. Still looking at the ship, it was apparently unguarded at the moment, with no one around it.
"When I say go, we make a dash for it, ok?"
Alice whispered. "Gotcha."
"1...2...3...go!" He said, as he took off at a run towards the YT, Alice right on his heels. People were milling around, but the two Padawans had enough training to hide the presences with the Force. Not exactly with the strength of a fully-trained Jedi, but enough to remain unseen. They reach the YT, ramp already down, and dash straight up it, bolting inside. Ben leaps into the pilot's chair, Alice right behind him, taking the co-pilot's chair.
"Have you ever flown any ship before?" She asks him quickly.
As he searches the controls for the button ramp lift button, he replies, "No, I haven't have you?"
Alice shakes her head. "Nope, we'll just have to wing it then."
Ben suddenly finds the button, and hits it. The ramp lifts closed, and he calls over to Alice.
"Get those coords for Dantooine, and quick!"
"Well isn't someone bossy today?" She snaps back at him with a laugh. She does a search of the nav computer, finding the coords and punching them in.
Ben rolls his eyes at her comment, chuckling a little.
"Let's just get out of here." He says, as he engages the repulsors, lifting the freighter from the port, and into the sky. He guides the ship up towards the atmosphere, dearly hoping nothing will happen. There is a palpable tension in the small space, pouring from both Jedi's Force presences. The ship breaks the atmosphere, now in open space above the planet.
"Hit it!" Ben shouts.
Alice grins, and punches the hyperdrive button, and the YT makes the jump. The stars melt into blurs as the ship is on course for Dantooine. Ben sighs with relief, slumping back onto his chair.
"I can't believe it, we just escaped Coruscant." Ben said with a shake of his head.
"I know, I never thought I'd have to leave Coruscant at all, and like this? Never crossed my mind." Alice says, appearing thoughtful.
"Same here, but this will be like a new start, a new life. I think I'm going to sleep, I think we'll both need it after all this." He stands, heading back toward the cabin.
"I think I'm going to stay here, I like to watch the stars. Just peace..." She says, sitting back in her seat, and looking out the viewport.
Ben found himself staring at her for a moment, but before she could notice, he ducks into the cabin, and sleeps. Both have many things on their minds, but one thing is for sure: Their lives will never be the same...
