Darth Vader was a Jedi Knight that fought in the Clone Wars with Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was once know as Anakin Skywalker before he was turn to dark side by Emperor Palpatine. He was swayed by Palpatine,because he told him he could save Padme'. After he turns to the dark side.Padme gives birth to two twins Luke and Leia before she dies. Darth Vader find out that Padme just died from Palpatine. He didn't know that his twins were born before Padme dies.
