The History of Master Bold part 6
I heard humming as I drifted back to consciousness. I recognized it as a lullaby my mother used to sing to me when I was a little girl. Was I dead? I certainly didn?t remember dying. Maybe I drowned. As the humming continued I felt myself relax more. Did it matter if I was dead? Maybe death wasn?t so bad. Then I shuddered violently as a cold cloth was placed on my forehead.
I guess that means you're awake? a kind and soothing voice chuckled. I opened my eyes to see a brown eyed, brown haired, and light skinned woman of about 30 years, looking down on me as I laid in a bed. The unmakuped woman was beautiful in a homely sense. She smiled down at me with genuine sincerness.
Don't worry, you're safe here.
Where am I? I asked.
You're on Dantooine. I'm Shani.
I began to sit up.
What's you name? she asked. I eyed her cautiously.
What kind of condition am I in? I feel fine. I said, ignoring the question.
You're a little dehydrated. Other than that, you are fine. My son found you unconscious on the beach this morning. What were you doing out there?
I just looked at her with "It's none of your business" written all over my face.
"Fine, don't tell me." She said.
I eased off of the bed and made my way out of the door.
Aren't you hungry? You haven't eaten in hours. she asked. I stopped in my tracks. My stomach growled to prove just how hungry I was. It felt like I hadn't eaten in days. Shani chuckled.
"You're welcome to have dinner with me and my family." She offered. I spun around and said, "Thank you ma'am. I appreciate you hospitality."
She frowned. "Oh, please, call me Shani, and it's my pleasure Ms. . .?" She left the statement in the air, as she waited
"Bree," I finished.
"Ah, Ms. Bree, you're very welcome."

This is good work, building a character with a back story is something we should all strive for!posted May 13, 2008 10:38 PM | Report Abuse - Darth Biscuit
