The History of Master Bold part 11
" . . . and I mean don't get me wrong. I love it here . . ."
Once again I tuned Jesl's incessant chatter out of my mind.
" . . . I mean what if I don't want to be a house wife . . ."
However I was having an extremely hard time keeping her tuned out.
Jesl and I laid in bunk beds that night, with me on the top bunk. We had been told to go to bed at least an hour ago, but Jesl kept. . .
" Hey Bree, what's it like where you you live?" Jel asked.
" That is none of your business, and if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would shut up and go to sleep."
"I was just wondering, cuz I see your kind of tan. I mean even for a dark skinned person."
"I have traveled alot for these past few years, but I grew up on an island on Naboo. It had plenty of sun, rain, and friendly people." I answered.
"Oh, so you travel with your family?"
"No, no my family doesn't travel with me."
"what's your family like?"
"Three brothers, a sister, mom, and dad." I said sharply
"Oh . . . what's you dad like?"
"Don't worry about it!" I hissed. Then I could feel her hurt silence.
"He was violent, and he abandoned us several times. The last time I saw him he was selling me to scientist."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, I don't need sympathy. That's a part of another life now."
I couldn't help it. I had met plenty of people I considered mean, harsh, and cruel. Jesl was none of these. She was just a curious fifteen year old teenager who liked to talk. Surely she deserved better from me.
"Bree, can I ask you another one more question?"
"Only if you promise to go to sleep if I answer it."
"Sure," She agreed.
"Then go ahead,"
"When you travel, do you miss your family?"
I could not help but sigh as I remembered the family that I had been stolen from and had forever chosen to leave behind. It pained me more to realize that I had not thought about them for about five years.
". . . Certain people, yes." I answered.
" Which . . ." Jesl began, but I interupted her.
"Ahh! A deal's a deal. Good night Jesl."
Now it was her turn to sigh, although her's was much lighter.
"Good night Bree."
